@PJH I hope he wins. BIG. REALLY BIG.

@PJH who's providing emotional support for whom?

Like so many political or politicised causes, there's a kernel of a good idea crushed under the weight of misuse, whether intentional or well meaning.
Some people's pets can be real lifesavers when it comes to mental health issues, but if there's no way of determining a pet from a mental health assistance animal you're going to get people taking badly trained animals that don't do well, and others claiming mental health assistance as a workaround to take a pet with them. Maybe there should be some basic assessment and a doctor's note saying this animal helps with a genuine mental health issue, and has been assessed as being capable of travelling without panicking and biting someone's face off

My experience with doctors is such that I don't think this would help at all. Or maybe it's just specific to Poland that you can get any medical assessment you want if you ask politely.

@Gąska the history of medical marijuana and ADHD in the US leads me to believe the same about doctors here.
-
@Gąska Yeah, probably the same here. I've even seen doctors saying (well, writing on blogs) that they would write such notes (they were saying it in the context of sick notes for employers) even if they suspect it's not really warranted, on the basis that what their patient tells them is the most important thing and that to build a trust relationship you have to first listen and accept what they tell you, and that as soon as you start debating and denying their feelings, you're going to reduce your ability to actually help and cure them.
Stepping aside from the obvious garagey answers to that, and the problem it causes for society as a whole, I can understand that there is some kernel of truth in that, and that doctors don't necessarily appreciate being turned into administrative agents (i.e. writing notes and reports used by others to CYA) rather than exclusively caring about their patients.

The Herald understands that the clown blew up balloons and folded them into a series of animals throughout the meeting.
It's further understood that the clown mimed crying when the redundancy paperwork was handed over to the staffer
