What city is Valve in? How about ArenaNet?
I believe Bellevue and also-Redmond respectively.
I worked in the building next door to Valve's when I worked in Bellevue.

That's a UI failure, but not in the way you might think. The place is out of mayo, so it's appropriate that the mayo option be disabled, but its checkbox should have been marked instead of empty.

Another hypothesis in the comments is that they're out of buns that have not been pre-mayo'd.

How the fuck do they run out of mayo, though?

Pre-mayo'd buns would be nasty.

They ran out of no mayo.
The entire McDonald's is full of mayonnaise.

@pie_flavor Note: Mayonnaise does not go on pizza (instead of tomato sauce). Even if certain former Soviet states think it does.

That's Iowa. Iowa state fairs, to be precise, even if the abomination has spread. State fairs are deeply strange places, unlike most of the surrounding area (which is still plenty strange, to be sure).

@ben_lubar It's remarkable of his style how you can immediately tell it's a Douglas Adams quote even if you don't remember that specific one.

Just remember that style of defense the next time I have to justify myself for the existance of Bavaria. Even when I'm from Hamburg ;)

@topspin Some of my ancestors are from Bavaria. But they left 172 years ago.
-
@hardwaregeek Mine left around 300 years ago.
-
@hardwaregeek I had a great grandma from Leipzig, but that's in Saxony. Her parents would have had to Czech their privilege though.
-
@benjamin-hall I have other ancestors that left Germany 254 years ago, allegedly from somewhere along the Rhine. However, the town that they allegedly came from doesn't exist, unless it was along part of the Rhine that isn't in modern-day Germany, but the little searching I've done in other countries along the Rhine hasn't turned it up, either. Other ancestors arrived here at least 377 (probably 382) years ago, presumably from England, but as far as any records I've ever found, they simply appeared out of thin air in New Haven Colony.
-
@hardwaregeek most of mine entered the country in the late 1700s. At least one we know was a revolutionary war veteran. From there it's all Scotland, England, and one or two other Germans IIRC.
-
@benjamin-hall I'm not aware of any Revolutionary War veterans, although a couple of them did have a price put on their heads by the British. They were cobblers. When they saw American soldiers barefoot in the winter, they gave them leather from which to make boots. For their effort, they were not only wanted by the British, they were "disowned" (that is, their actions were officially repudiated as not in keeping with church doctrine) by the ardently pacifistic Society of Friends (Quaker church).

Ya beat me. I thought I had an aunt/uncle's spouse's family, or something like that, but I can't find it in my records. The closest I can get is a 9th great-grandfather who was in MA at or before 1635.

@hardwaregeek This guy's a cousin.

@pie_flavor I don't know Rick, that name sounds fake.

So, our resident "news"paper for morons named BILD just criticised one of our soccer players for shaking hands with Putin.
Caption:
Comment: Matthäus should not shake bloody hands.
Subtitle:
Comment by Julian Reichelt: Lothar Matthäus should not shake bloody hands
Grinning BILD-columnist Lothar Matthäus suddenly stands next to Wladimir Putin. That is dangerous. Please note the bolded name.
Lothar Matthäus then simply answered with one single picture.
The grinning guy in the middle? Why, that's Julian Reichelt. You may recognize the name...

Some of my ancestry was on the third ship to land at Jamestown. Then there's some that crossed the Bering Strait and migrated down to current USA contiguous states territory back an unknown number of centuries ago. It's far enough back that I can't claim legal status as a tribal member, though. (I think either my grandfather or great-grandfather was the last one who could, and the reason I heard that he chose not to was because he didn't want to be eligible for government welfare payments because that just incentivized laziness.)
