RE: Broken Images - Thanks Dreamhost!
This wasn't my site but a couple years ago, the index page of a website I was visiting got defaced so the host renamed it to index.php.moved-by-noc. I know this because they didn't disable directory listing when they renamed the index file... it's still online, too.

RE: Google AdSense
I originally just drew yellow behind it, like the other important parts of the picture. I then realized that white on bright yellow is unreadable, so I tried to darken the antialiased white text... probably not the best idea.

Google AdSense
I guess they didn't want to anger me by delaying my updated payment information, or by missing their own estimated date, so they decided to compromise.

According to whois, the domain was registered in 1986.@tgape - Great analysis...
Regarding " but this is a university that may have had internet services before there really was such thing as www."... It has been many years, but I am fairly confident that Georgia Tech was one of the nodes on DARPANet, which would have meant connectivity long before there was any idea for the Web...

Required www
I'm part of the group that believes the "www" before domain names is unnecessary, so I suppose you can see why the pattern used by my college annoys me so much.
http://housing.gatech.edu -> Server not found
http://www.housing.gatech.edu -> Works
Naturally, it isn't consistent between different subdomains either.

RE: Any ideas on this one?
The EA Download Manager creates the ProgramData folder for itself on XP.
Some of my EA game shortcuts are in Start>All Programs>Electronic Arts and some are under Start>All Programs>EA Games, so I guess I shouldn't expect any better from them.

This is just a guess but could you get Process Monitor to run on startup? If it finishes loading before that dialog pops up, maybe you could find out where that incorrect path is being read from.

How to Display Vector Graphics
Somehow I ended up on the web page of a Georgia Tech restaurant's failed health inspection report. It looked like a typical web conversion of a printed document, until I reached the bottom.
Three questions:
- What is the "proper" version of Java? I have the latest version; surely that would be the "proper" one since a few releases ago there was a security hole that allowed random websites to download files onto my computer without my knowledge...
- Why do they need Java to display a signature of all things?
- Why do they even need to display the signatures online? Is a hacker going to break into their website and upload a fake restaurant health report?
for (int i = 0; i < groups.length; i++) {
XYs = groups[i].split("_");
if (XYs.length == 4) {
int widthone = resizenum(Integer.parseInt(XYs[0]), this.reswidth);
int heightone = resizenum(Integer.parseInt(XYs[1]), this.resheight);
int widthtwo = resizenum(Integer.parseInt(XYs[2]), this.reswidth);
int heighttwo = resizenum(Integer.parseInt(XYs[3]), this.resheight);
sig.drawLine(widthone, heightone, widthtwo, heighttwo);
}
}
I guess they don't have enough storage space for black and white image files, and server-side image generation was too difficult.

RE: Error Message WTF in IE - The Broker

I've been experiencing a LOT of sudden-death crashes in FFX4.
The I realized it's all on pages with flash. Sometimes a flash banner. Livestream consistently crashes when I click to a saved stream from a stream's main page.
I thought the new plugin-container.exe was supposed to prevent Flash bugs from crashing the whole browser?
