how is babby mandelbrot formed?

IT'S ONLY MOVING THEN I'M NOT LOOKING! Also, nice set of colors. Hurt my eyes a little.

Hilarious.

I have no idea. I just found it out in the wild and linked it here.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Does anyone else percieve massive peripheral movement, or is that just my brain damage acting up?
-
Did you read derula's comment?

Is this your very first encounter with optical tricks?

No, I've been coming here for along time.

Actually, I don't get it.
I thought the mandelbrot set was smoothl outside its border; and didn't generate these snakes.

If you zoom far enough into Mandelbrot, you can find "mini-Mandelbrots". (The whole point of a fractal is that the shape repeats.) This is one of those.

Yes, I'm aware of that.
I'm referring to the area outside the border. Maybe I was wrong, and the coloration schemes and cropouts I've seen seen so far simply don't make the snakes appear.

The whole image is inside the border, is my point. It's zoomed-in to a mini-Mandelbrot inside the un-zoomed Mandelbrot.
Here, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEw8xpb1aRA. It starts unzoomed, and as it zooms-in you can see many mini-Mandelbrots inside the larger Mandelbrot.

OH that makes sense. Thanks for being smarter.

Since we're linking sexy math clips, here's some more.
