Data Warehouse is cold storage compared to Swamp App... Yup
Random is Key..
After a few times viewing your pictures... You are seldom surprised by the next one...
Non-Random systems just lack excitement. Swampies are all about fun...
-
@SpectateSwamp Can you make it integrate with Google Photos?
-
@pie_flavor
All one would have to do is take results from page 10 thru 100 and randomly display 'em
The first 10 pages are all put there by Google, so they would have to be excluded..

In Neal Stephenson's Diamond Age some of the characters had nanites or whatever in their bodies and would share them and the information they contained via sexual intercourse.

@SpectateSwamp Nonono, you misunderstand. Google Images is the image page of the search. Google Photos, which is what I'm talking about, is their cloud service where they store all your pictures for free.

ie find and play "squi/roa/2019" easy easy. curation and play...
Give 'em long file names you'll be glad you did.

Nothing makes Data more Spectate-able than long file names.
I'm gonna start renaming all my key files.. Soon. Maybe.

Anyway when I thought all my files were gone.. I was going to start and give 'em all long file names.
I will and soon too.

100 signatures needed to get on the October Ballot,,,At the same time they are canvasing others to run as an Independent.

I said good luck. The CofC orchestrate the whole show...
That's why I run... In my opening comments I'll be calling 'em out and posing the questions we need answered.. If I can get the 100 signatures...

My search did multi phrase search since 1999.
It has a max of 6 phrase / mini-phrase search keys..
If any don't exist then the next info is searched...
Wow does it work great for long detailed file names...i have a recent video on youtube.. called
squirrel at cabin green mountain road 20190329123657
After a quick catalog function...
I can instantly search and play that clip
" road/ gre/abin / squ"
or
" roa/ 201903/irrel"
the thing is I don't need to know the name of a long file to find it..

Nobody Shares Video Knowledge better than this..
Without a doubt those Long FileNames are unbeatable when Curating Video.
Maybe the greatest feature of all time...NOW
I can take those tobacco leaf flyer videos... AND give them a long name that contains....
The play start point... the duration... the speed... the direction and maybe the co-ordinates (for proximity searches)
To test it out My Swampies can take this template and make it theirs.
Swampies need only to download or rename their Own videos to see the details.
This app is easy and fun.
pass01 tlf vg begin==42900 start==43500 wait=.90 smlbud3 maxbud10 demo85_pict7 speed=30 freeeze==.30
pass02 tlf tobacco leaf flyer begin==62800 start==63960 wait=.20 smlbud5 maxbud10 speed=50 freeze==.03
pass03 tlf tobacco leaf flyer begin==62800 start==65050 wait=.20 smlbud5 speed=50 freeze==.03
pass04 tlf tobacco leaf flyer begin==60000 start==62150 wait=.25 smlbud10 speed=50 freeze==.03name the file to the above details..
Do an auto catalog of that directory... (GF option)
Followed by a quick lets play (ww screen saver continuous play)
sit back and enjoy a view that nobody else has EVER seen.I like this better than cataloging in a separate file.. This info gets lost but not when it is in the FileName nope
Only a fool would ignore Long FileNames
-
@SpectateSwamp said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:

I couldn't achieve this, the filename did not make the file a video...

Nobody Shares Knowledge WORSE than Windows, Mac, Android, Linux... without Swamp file find
File Hierarchy hasn't changed since way back.
In the 80's I'd use the directory command to find and list all file types (or just some) on a drive or sub-directory
And that was it.
The Search command was great it would look at all the computer code files for specific strings..
But not much more. All operating systems are pathetic at this. Windows, Linux, Apple, Android ... Piss poor find file utilities.
Not making good use of Long FileNames is just plain dumb.
If someone has 10's of thousands of pics or video with long file names....
I could be randomly or selectively playing them within minutes. It's not your fault that you don't have your data organized like this...
If you are on windows grab a free copy.
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stonedan/search.exe
A small find file and play app. With Random and more
Start assigning long file names today.!!!
Those find file laggards can easily implement these features... I'll help them and the source is available..
Users should demand it.

I use Long FileNames with lots of details…
I find that if I don’t do the naming right away I tend to shoot way less.
EG.
Recently I shot 58 short video clips 30 to 40 seconds each.
Looking for artifacts and bird life high in the clouds…
#1 offload to my PC
#2 a quick Auto Catalog with my App
#3 watch them all.. noting any activity. ( I found 4)
#4 rename those with stuff
#5 delete the rest of the files..
#6 refine the names on those with birds and bugs…
That’s it..
I can do another AutoCatalog and within minutes be finding and playing those clips of interest…
The job isn’t done until the T’s are crossed and the I’s dotted. and cataloging done…
When things are easy and fast they get done.

All operating systems are pathetic at this. Windows, Linux, Apple, Android ... Piss poor find file utilities.Windows searches file properties. The file type just needs to support it.
So it's not a windows issue.
Worst case scenario, you can create shortcuts to files and fill in the comment property.

Yesterday I found a weird option in my favorite audio encoder - 'merge all into one file'. I feel like they've interacted with Swampy at one point.
-
@pie_flavor I mean, if you wanted to put, say, 5 two minute long audio tracks into one, I could see that as a useful function in some circumstances.
Of course @SpectateSwamp would take his entire media library and merge it into one thousand hour long file with no rhyme or reason to the order, which is not useful at all.
-
@The_Quiet_One It's specifically billed as a batch processor, so I don't think it's designed for a two file kind of deal.

Not with Video... Small videos are the best for a number of reasons.
Quick to open... the call for the 'video length' takes longer on BIG files.
Use long filenames to tell the contents.. or action points for replay.. More small files the better.
If you have data corruption... it is just a small short segment.. no big deal.
Long video is the result of editing.. I don't like editing.. don't need it..
I can tell my PC what video to play immediately after or have it randomly select..
Who ever shoots 1 or 2 hour video.. Nobody that is smart.. That's for sure...
-
@SpectateSwamp Oh that's right. I forgot. You like to combine all of your text files into one gigantic blob of shit, but your videos are a million 5-second long little tiny shit nuggets.

@SpectateSwamp said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:

Editing requires having a plan, or at least an idea of what you want to accomplish. Unless the goal is simply to confuse, anger, and/or bore viewers, in which case splicing stuff together randomly is good enough, I suppose.
