Never even read Slashdot, perhaps I'll check it out sometime if I ever have the time, I certainly need to make more aquaintances as I sincerely don't know a person that liked it or used it, but if it was that great they would have kept it longer. If the criteria "they kept for a while so people must have liked it" is valid then Lotus Notes is a great software and tons of people liked the oh so many quirks that make it shine.
