I need some new stuff anyway. I'm re-reading Wyrd Sisters, my only DiscourseWorld book.

Also the font on the covers was really condensed and tall.

Robert newman.. neville.. neh.. ro.. euh
This is one of those times where the jpeg-like nature of memory storage is fucking me over.

RE: Benefits website
I'm still wondering whether I should get those three huge epic science fiction books from that guy.
I forgot his name and the book titles.
Okay.
At least one of the book titles starts with "The".

RE: Unix Haters' Club
So I guess the question is: do things like devices and processes share enough traits with files
For this I would say no
two objects implement the same interface in java: you can just take your input and call open(), read() or write() on it, whether it's actually a file or not.
But this does make sense on the face of it. -
RE: Unix Haters' Club
You want to send things to the kernel? You want to touch a device?
I don't know what these things mean.
-
RE: Mandatory Fun Day
I definitely didn't recognize the Fancy song that Tacky was based on...
This is possible if you haven't listened to any form of popular radio for the past months.
-
RE: Unix Haters' Club
Everything is not a file.
What other possibilities are there? Everything is data, and every piece of data is grouped in "things" and these "things" need to be accessed in some systematic way. Now you have a file system with files.
Maybe my thinking isn't innovative enough. (quite likely!)

RE: HTML tag abuse thread
Option 3: this thread isn't the FFX Killer.
If so, I'd love to know which thread so I can not visit it.

RE: HTML tag abuse thread
But nothing happened to my browser. So either that post was neutered, or I haven't scrolled by it yet.

RE: HTML tag abuse thread
Not having any trouble with the keyboard nesting. Was there supposed to happening a thingens?

RE: Mandatory Fun Day
Crap, is heavy metal now classed as old person music?
No, you simply cannot kill the metal.

RE: Mandatory Fun Day
or where the singing sounds like whining
So Damnation isn't exactly your favourite Opeth?

RE: Unix Haters' Club
And evolution tends to result in highly optimized crappy design.

It's funny how Nemo looks good by copying its style from OSX.

RE: Benefits website
You guys are fucking weird.
Dunno. So far I've fucked relatively straightfoward. No hankpypanky. -
RE: Google Accounts
Ok so how can I run Unreal 1 again on my Win8 system?
That game did basically everything right.

RE: Summary is not a good tool to break reading barriers
The winner of each match is the person that ate the other person.
I'm more excited about this match:

RE: Benefits website
I'm wearing black jeans; a little too heavy and thick for this weather but it's okay. Dark grey boxers. Thin calf-height business socks. Good, slender brown leather shoes. A grey T-shirt with names of cities I've never visited.

RE: The Like icon, wut?
Als my crude font-styler turns all the icons into Cambria, which are then boxes with a surprisingly pleasing light outline and which have not nearly as heavy a presence as the intended icons.

RE: The Like icon, wut?
I would like to point out that ~75% of any given page consists of UI and empty space. It's especially obvious with single-line posts.

RE: How many of regulars here actually fit the "geek" stereotypes?
Dutch Domino's makes perfectly good pizza. Better than the drenched shithous New York Pizza. I'm a bready guy. I don't like thin crust.
You know in Ratatouille where the dark haired girl cook is telling the prot about REAL GOOD BREAD well that was a good scene for me.

RE: Discourse quirks
Also, "+ Reply as new Topic" is awkwardly off to the side instead of sitting next to the Reply button, as if they are two completely separate things
Users might click one instead of the other, so it's not a good idea to put them side by side. -

RE: How to reboot in Windows Server 2012
Edit - PJH. Cogratulations - you've won a INB4 Fail badge!
I didn't even know there was a badger for that. Winning!

RE: Poll: TDWTF's new design is...
It's fucking 85 degrees here and I laughed at the quote abuse and now I'm 5000 degrees warmer. Thanx, alot.

RE: Summary is not a good tool to break reading barriers
I'm not saying summary isn't broken in general.
I'm saying in this case it's broken not because of thread length, but because of abuse.
-
RE: Summary is not a good tool to break reading barriers
You could make the argument that the broken summary feature is only there to deal with the problems of broken-by-design infinite scrolling.
You would be wrong, but you could do that.

RE: Game design.. with your favorite WTFs / anti-patterns?
Inner-Platform? Or is that covered by one of the others?
