He took something beautiful and destroyed it.

Me, I like being reminded that the word "senior" is meaningless, so I don't mind probably never having it in my job title...
Just wait until you're at the IHOP at 4:30 and then tell me it's meaningless.

4:30am or 4:30pm?

I held a few senior positions and I've never worked more than 8 hours except a few times over this years. That's one of the good things of IT: ease of employment, so don't get too comfy.

made me go and I really didn't want to respond to such nonsense.
It's a blakeyhowler. He does those on a fairly regular basis. Nothing to see here, please move along.

And if the employer is well aware of that, so much the better.
Money is like air, it's only a problem if you ain't getting enough.
It might also become a problem if you're getting too much.

I've had "senior" in my job title for years, and I don't have a clue what I'm doing.
-
I'm a Super Secret Squirrel 4 "Senior somethingorother" and have no goddamn clue what I'm doing either. I suspect the difference between noobs and seniors is that realization that we are full of shit and don't actually know anything.

Isn't that the usual progression in life?

By the time you reach architect or lead, it won't matter because you'll be all day writting emails and wasting time in meetings.

I chose to spend most of the last 15 years doing audio/video programming in the games industry. It was made clear to me both implicitly and explicitly that there's no career path for people who do that, but I enjoyed the work. Of course, now the economy's in the toilet, nobody'll take a second look at my resume ("but I can do other things, too!"), but I had fun while it lasted...

all day writting emails and wasting time in meetings
But, but, I wanna write code...

Something being a baby doesn't make it human.
@blakeyrat was once a baby. Infer from that what you will.

Then find some itch and hack it on your free time: no deadlines, no estimates, no rules. Hell, you can even open source it and add yourself to some rat's enemies list.

The image is good, but it should really be "Insert 'full' text of post", given how often it leaves out nested quotes
And don't forget how it leaves out formatting. By design. Because formatting isn't needed in quotes, for reasonsFiled Under: Quoting 263 as 263
Except for the .001% of the time when, for no explicable reason, it will mysteriously include all the nested quotes with formatting intact.

My favorite discoquotation strategy is when it converts all
<
s and>
s to<
and>
, because that's a useful and valuable thing to have it do to a quote. A civilized thing, if you will...

Yep. I have two changes on my plate this sprint. Halfway there and not started. And next week's meeting schedule looks even more aggressive.

Today We Learned, of course.
Did you forget that Drax is unable to deduce acronym expansions, as well as not understanding metaphor?

they couldn't create a huge momolithic collection of jQuery and untestable JavaScript to force the site into working and he got flustered and panicked.
Well, that's just peachy.
BTW, [off topic trigger warning] I'm curious, why did you switch pronouns in the middle of the sentence?

I thought Drax was stealing space shuttles and building a space station using a secret base deep in Brazil.

No, no, the other Drax, the one Blakeyrat is.
Maybe he's working weekends at the other one?

I just like trolling him sometimes.
