User card shows wrong description
-
Continuing the discussion from Poll: The Official Question, Bewitched by the Discosorceress!:
Has anyone submitted the user card description swap bug on meta.d yet?
I don't see anything over there, but I also can't reproduce it there. Still happening here, of course.
EDIT
Now on meta:
https://meta.discourse.org/t/user-cards-with-hr-s-cause-wrong-descriptions/23538?u=boomzilla
-
Me neither, and that confuses me.
-
I was thinking that maybe we had some user card option set differently, but the user cards look like they're showing the same stuff here and there.
-
I see some recent Ember 1.9 related work on user cards. Maybe some of that fixed it accidentally?
-
I guess we'll wait until the next update, then?
Actually, we already have all changes but the topmost one, don't we?
-
I REPRO'D IT!
But I have bad news: It's something that will possibly backfire.
The bug is apparently caused by the <hr/> in my description. And they'll possibly take the easy way out ...
-
It's definitely you that does it - it works properly until I load your user card then it loads all others with your description.
-
Actually, you can do the same here with @accalia's.
-
I still can't repro, even using @aliceif's card over there.
-
But yes, it always seems to be @accalia over here.
-
Actually, you can do the same here with @accalia's.
Which explains why her's showed up as mine that one time
-
Oh, I accidentally broke the thing.
It only seems to break when there's also something below the <hr/>.moo
moovs
moo
That's a weird bug.
-
Still not breaking for me on meta.d. Maybe because right now it's <hr/>s all the way down?
-
That was me playing around. Now it should work.
-
That did it.
-
indeed it did.
@aliceif, do you want to file the but or shall i?
-
I'll do it!
-
i shall prepare to like it!
-
I've added a link in the OP and here:

-
liked. you put that in uncategorized though.
i flagged it with a regategorize request to move it.
-
Dang, lost my Regular status over there.
-
Noooo.
I wanted to flag it as offtopic. Not you!
Filed under: [Told you I'd flag myself as offtopic](), [That was unintentional, though](), [Deus ex PEBKAC]()
-
ooooh... it was intentional.....
sorry.
oh hey. i got a badge for that!
First Flag
!

Now look at this!
Opening my card after a fresh reload:
Opening @Luhmann's after that
Opening @accalia's card after a fresh reload:
Opening mine after that:

I like how there's a type of rasp called the
bastard
-
yep. there is.
-
hey! look! we got a mod (i think. might be admin. responded to my flag anyway) to like that bug.
way to go @aliceif!

If you are talking about techAPJ over there they are just listed as a mod, but it took me a bit to look it up. zogstrip however has also liked it and actually is an admin.
-
Isn't techAPJ their Apprentice Discodev or Intern or whatever?
-
No idea, but it is the only account listed as a mod over there all of the rest are admin. So if they are on the team (seems likely) it is probably in some limited manner.
-
zogstrip hadn't liked it when i commented.
still nice.... of course if one of the big two like it then i'll have to send @aliceif a cupcake or something. ;-)
-
-
I just noticed that the join date also gets messed up, along with the last seen time.
This bug just never gets boring!
-
-
mods don't have access to the billing and monitoring stuff, I think.
I had to get demoted from admin when that went in because I shouldn't have access to that stuff.
-
HAHAHA.
The erasing of <hr>s doesn't fix the actual bug.
-
.....
wow. what a bug this must be.
also why did that pass testing when there's such a clear and reasonable repro?
-
also why did that pass testing when there's such a clear and reasonable repro?
Knowing Discourse? Fixed in stable, reintroduced in next release / beta by touching some code that has nothing to do with the original "fix".
-
Discofix
-
Has that been defined yet?
-
-
And you didn't credit me? For shame!
-
-
Think it's already wikified anyway... back in a bit... done 😊
-
The erasing of <hr>s doesn't fix the actual bug.
It fixes it only for the <hr> case. Your profile also has an <img> tag, which seems to also trigger the bug. (@sam) Notice it doesn't trigger with @accalia's anymore, which only has <hr>. And does trigger with mine, because I copied your <img> thing into it to test that by itself. (Trigger warning, lol.)
-
oh nevermind... it just isn't working from my profile for whatever reason.
-
Oh, ok - I was just about to go test. I see they've re-opened the bug over there: https://meta.discourse.org/t/user-cards-with-hr-s-cause-wrong-descriptions/23538
