Hey, you know the difference between the old forums and these?
-
They didn't take me up on my dislike feature either.
-
I never really understood why people need a seperate "Ingore somebody"-function.
@dhromed ignores me quite well, according to himself. He doesn't have a button so why should you? (unless I mention him then it shows up on his speechbubble :D )
You and @blakeyrat keep trolling and feeding each other like there was no tomorrow. I don't even know what to say to this except: There is little need for others to cencor you if you cencor yourself or something. (and I mean both and I mean that you frankly can choose to not read the other persons posts. Period).
As a matter of fact, if your browser hovers over the post of the other person for a few seconds, according to Discourse you have done your duty as a discourse-reader. It doesn't force you to read the subject inside the post.
TL;DR:
If you guys really have a problem with each other, at least have fun with it and let me have fun with it, too. (not really what the rest of the post says at all)
-
I would have ignored you a long time ago and then we could have avoided all this unpleasantness.
Or maybe you could just holocaust his ass, @Arantor!
Is that what you'd like to do? Rid us of this inferior race of rat-men?

No, I'd just like to help people be fucking nice to each other once in a while.
If blakeyrat wants to say he's a rat instead of a person, I'd argue that's his problem, not mine. If he wants to misinterpret what I'm saying as offensive, that's also his problem not mine.
-
So looking at the meta discussion on discourse. IPs confirmed not to be logged for emails or posts.
Great 21st century forum software.
-
That's utterly insane, but I'm not surprised.
-
He can't. He is not in the correct group for that sort of stuff.

While we're on the topic of Steam, what the hell is going on in my comments section?

Looks like plain ol' fashioned spam to me.
I have to admit, it's pretty rare to see spam on SteamCommunity though.
-

I'll just leave this here.
-
Awww, man, Art Blakey was fantastic. Saw him at Ronnie Scott's in 1988 or so. He could barely walk (he was carried onto stage) and half deaf, but it was quite possibly the best concert I've ever been to.
-
I think he called you "less human" based on your lack of social and intellectual intelligence. A fair assessment, considering you're as insightful as a cabbage, and have the attitude of a rabid dog.
-
What a musician. I don't know much of his work, but what I do know tends to send shivers down my spine. I can see why Blakey's a fan (assuming he is; are you, @blakeyrat?).
-
Considering it takes about 46 seconds to pwn this insecure piece of shit, I wouldn't trust any logs generated by it.
So you have managed to hack into Discourse and got admin rights in 46s? If not shut up.
-
Wow, someone REALLY wants to get into @codinghorror's account!
No. But it's a nice way to spam someone.Or more. I don't know how Discourse handles this, but if the password is reset at request time, it is also a way to make it more difficult for users who sign out after a session to sign in again.
-
I don't know how Discourse handles this
You have to follow through with resetting your password from the email, it isn't changed immediately.
-
Well if it was done sanely you wouldn't just reset the password there and then. You set up the situation whereby you wait for a response from the email to reset the password.
I have no idea what DC does, so all bets would be off.
-
You have to follow through with resetting your password from the email, it isn't changed immediately.
Wait...does this mean Discourse is actually...Doing Something Right™?
-
They make up for it by doing many things wrong.
-
No, I'd just like to help people be fucking nice to each other once in a while.
That's borderline Jeff, you know that? He also wants people to be nice to each other in discussions...

Jeff was nice once! If you're nice, you're kinda like Jeff, and that's bad! Don't be nice! Bad @Arantor!
I think there's some kind of name for that logic but it usually involves Hitler and I CBA'd to look it up.
-
Wait...does this mean Discourse is actually...Doing Something Right™?
Probably accidentally.
-

Yes, but I'm not going to build a software to fuck with people to make them fit my definition of nice.

We already had me accused of Nazism only today.

I guess I'm not popular enough to get a password reset email.

Me either

So apparently I am unpopular enough for a rogue password reset request?

Excepting Jeff and Blakey, the selection was rather eclectic. @dhromed got targeted, I didn't for example.
-
The list looks a bit like someone compiled a list of "die-hard" TDWTF community members. Youngsters like me who only did front-side comments before Discurse happened are just not on their radar.
-
Nah - it looks random. Ish. To me at least.
-

I didn't do any comments before Discourse, neither articles nor the forums. You can at least say the last 4 hits before Atwood would be targetting the TDWTF big timers, but there were 4 randoms before that, which makes me wonder if it was pseudo-targetted before spamming Atwood's account, or if, truly:
Excepting Jeff [...], the selection was rather eclectic.
-
Maybe it was a list of Jeff and people he was an asshole to.
Nah, it would have been much longer...

Wait a minute! Calling people subhuman and Nazis is one thing, but you crossed the line there.

I just wanted to save him! Honestly!!One guy trying to make the world a better place through forum software is more than enough, just imagine if @Arantor started on a similar mission with SMF...
-
I did, only I durn fucked up and didn't get to go nearly far enough. I wasn't trying to make miracles but I was trying to drag them into the 2010s.

@HardwareGeek: see???
-
I couldn't cope in the end with the cargo cultism, the incredible and ridiculous resistance to change and a dysfunctional team the like of which rivals the WTF mortgage company.
It got to the point where it felt like they were asking me to make every fucking feature I tried to add be optional (in additional to the way too many options they already had that I was trying to remove)
-
Yeah, but as the lead arch-conservative in these, I've come to expect a certain level of ideological confused name calling.
Arch-conservative? Nah, you're way too open to entertaining opinions that aren't in lockstep with your own. A True* arch-conservative should be blinded by his own prejudice** and unable to speak of opposing viewpoints without frothing at the mouth. You know, like morbs.
*One who likes haggis, of course.
**The same goes for arch-liberals.

Ok, fixed.

Lies. I haven't received an email yet. Are you pulling my leg, or is Discourse broken again?
-
I sent a password reset email to both of you, so either it didn't go through or it got marked as spam at some point along the line.

Nope, nothing.

There was a brief time when Slashdot shut down access to the entire of South Africa, by banning one of the backbone server's IPs.
-
I love this, I don't even care if it's true!
