not that i'm aware of.
same way there's no way to turn off the notification from someone editing the text of your post (as TL4 or higher)
-
Who says notifications make me insane? Or that I'm not already insane?
-
Maybe that's what happened to @faoileag.
-
fair enough.
of course now Macie's getting notifications every time we change the topic title (and post if he hasn't unwatched the topic now)
i'm not sure that's a good thing or not.
Probably isn't a good thing. But then it appears he's ceased activity since that whole debacle, so… I dunno. And yes Firefox,
debacle
is a word. As isFirefox
.

hmm.... Ragequit or just busy at day job?
cause i didn't think we got him that angry..... if we did then..... oops?
-
Related: To be fair, I'm sorta a once-a-quarter walking HR incident. Thankfully my coworkers are chill and just make fun of it :)

Motion for eating a hotdog repetitively.
Motion for churning butter.
Telling someone "You're Dumb" over the phone (even worse, my mother)I could go on. I completely swear it doesn't occur to me that these are problems until after the fact.

Not a pleasant feeling…

never is. it never is
Status: Defcon 3 headache.
Addendum status: I just had someone call a critical situation Defcon 5, at which point i quipped "So situation normal then? good. I motion to adjourn meeting."
about 80% of the room broke out laughing.

Status: Sudafed (the real stuff, that you have to go see the pharmacist to buy) is like fucking magic.

yeah. it's amazing how many people just assume higher number is worse.
-
I've actually only played this once in MP. Office mode seems... interesting.
-
Status: wondering how you actually "read" stuff in Discourse.
Poking in sockbot... POSTing stuff to
/timings
?
-
I'd assume there's a way to turn off that notification, because if there wasn't how have we kept @mott555 and @faoileag from going insane?
- Who says we haven't driven them insane?
- @faoileag hasn't been around since November.

Yes. Yes it is.There was a period of three or four years where stuffy noses where a lot worse, while I actually thought that it was unavailable before I knew there was that in-between category of almost-but-not-quite-OTC stuff that you could still get without a prescription but didn't appear on the shelves.
Though it did also prompt an amusing joke article I read (which I am not going to search for now) titled something like "How to synthesize pseudophendrine from n-methamphetamine", addressing the problem of it being somewhat of a pain to get pseudophendrine but hey, meth is readily available in many places.

Yeah, it is in limbo. The "safe" replacements are rubbish. They seem completely ineffective to me. I just go to the pharmacy counter. Really, the only thing they have done is made it less convenient for non-meth addicts to get. As far as I know, meth is still readily available but now if I need some outside of normal pharmacy hours I have to find a 24-hour pharmacy.

Back in my college days, you could get a bottle of (I think) 100 tablets in the student health center for $1. Of all the places I've lived, my allergies bothered me more there than any other; I practically lived on the stuff. On the downside, though, I have experienced the sleeplessness that comes from taking high doses for too long.

Along with the feeling like you can feel your hair growing?
-
Um, no. Is that a symptom of something? I just mean feeling really tired and sleepy, but can't actually fall asleep, like when I've had too much caffeine late in the day.

It is harder than
You think to talk in haiku
Tried it once; I know ;)

I generally avoid it for blood pressure reasons.
I have thankfully had low blood pressure my entire life, so it is not an issue just yet.

Status: met with HR. Was all psyched-up for an offer letter, turned out to be like a pre-offer meeting. Hm.

I thought you were gainfully employed? Were you just on a trial period or something?

Currently a contractor.

Status: finished a basic header file skeleton for post class in Discourse API.
It currently contains:
- all properties present
- Q_PROPERTY macros so I can access this shit from QML (multilined because it looked awful if they were a single line each).
- getter and setter prototypes
- signals for every property change
- a single enum (I think I'll need another one)
So it pretty much has no methods that actually do shit.
The fucking file is already 464 lines long!
Now, you can say something about C++ and/or Qt in particular being overly verbose. You could argue I don't need some of those signals because some properties will never change after the object is constructed and I'm pushing the "covering all my bases" philosophy a bit too far.
But damn it if it doesn't say something about DiscoJSON. This shit is so fucking redundant and verbose, I'm rethinking my 1:1 mapping strategy.
Fuck this shit, I'm off to bed.

Status: Wanting to hurt something. Found this representative comment in the code I am currently cleaning up:
// This is where the magic happens
Thing is, the code that comment pertains to doesn't do anything of much significance. It just adds an object to a list. A list that isn't used until about 200 lines later.

Breakpointing/single-stepping through code trying to find out why a value that's being compared isn't the value I set it to. Neck-deep in libraries I have no control over, I discover the code that's printing the error message as a result of the failed comparison (I assume it's also doing the comparison) is in some other thread, and I have no more idea of where it's coming from than I did when I started.

According to P. Runeson and M. Höst. Lethbridge, there are three degree techniques in data collection methods, namely, first degree technique, second degree technique, and third degree technique [27].

Tried it once; I knowReminds me of the day all of our internal help desk tickets were in Haiku form. Sometimes describing the fix in the right meter was more difficult than the actual code change

Status: HOLY DEER NUTS! they fixed that bug in JIRA where every form could be submitted by ctrlenter EXCEPT the log time form. that one force logs you out when you hit ctrlenter on it
It only took them 20 months since i reported it and two software updates to do it. finally i no longer get force logged out of JIRA when i hit ctrlenter out of muscle memory.
