But Jory and Caithe?
Those are the two characters that could have been doing ranged attacks - Marjory Delaqua had axe/dagger (which are both ranged for necromancers) before she became a reaper, and Caithe has dual pistols which she doesn't use during Heart of Thorns or Living World Season 3 for some reason.

I'm not 100% on this, but you might be able to just ignore them and run to Trahearne. I know you can ignore the attack that includes frogs and the stonehead.
-
@ben_lubar they have one job: making sure I don't die. Anything else is secondary, like not using the weapons they carry for apparently aesthetic purposes.
YOU GUYS HAD ONE JOB. ONE JOB!!!!!
-
@Arantor said in Gilled Horse Chew:

Caithe's daggers are worth $7.50 when they're on sale.
Marjory Delaqua's sword is also worth $7.50, although it doesn't come imbued with the soul of her dead sister.
You can get a replica of Rytlock Brimstone's sword if you have 10 achievement points of a possible 50 in Guild Wars 1.
Canach's sword is also worth $7.50 on sale.
Braham's mace and shield are each worth, you guessed it, $7.50.They don't call it Fashion Wars 2 for nothing!
-
@ben_lubar they're very pretty and I might even buy some of them if they were more than just pretty items for other people to wave around.
If Caithe or Marjory actually used those things I'd be more invested in going 'WHAT SHE HAS, I WANT IT'.
I'm currently on 8 achievement points in GW1, I want the Black Moa to go with my Pink and Blue ones :D so I'll end up with a replica of Sohothin, which is cool.

At dawn and dusk the other kitten will arrive, they will meet each other, tag with a high five, and the previous kitten will leave.
Well now I definitely have to get them.

So we did some digging. Turns out that our original theory was right: if the group leader / person who's story it is dies, the battle will be bugged because they're in the region to trigger the event that happens at 25% of Mordremoth's health.
And the flying sections of the battle really, really suck.
-
We found a new way to break it. Near the end there is a section where you have to do a thing with a rift while there are a bunch of shadow things floating around. Naturally I cleared them all before going for the rift but that appears to break it too - since this time it was my story and I hadn't died getting the way through that part of the encounter.
-
@Arantor were both of you in the instance? It might be a good idea to try doing it with only one person there, just to confirm whether it's scaling that breaks it.
-
@ben_lubar it's not scaling related. We just got through it again to the final battle, let some of the shadow things live, which spawned the rift which allowed us to bring Mordremoth down to 10%.
The second time round we managed to end up killing the last shadow while running the rift, causing Mordremoth to be immune AGAIN.

Ok, I just did the mission solo because I was curious. I'm about as sure as I can be without seeing the code that it's scaling Mordremoth's break bar by the number of players but not scaling the duration of the rift.
@Arantor said in Gilled Horse Chew:

By the way, those aren't hovering shadows. They're smothering shadows, a homage to the fight against the shadow of the dragon at the end of Living World season 2. The implication being that this time, YOU are the divine fire that's burning the plants (as opposed to a magical blue torch that lets you walk through stone walls). There's even the same finisher animation, which I don't think is used anywhere else in the game.
-
@ben_lubar you mean the rift that de-spawns for no actual reason?
Oh, and I reproduced it solo, so it isn't just scaling related, plus this has been reported on the forum various times over the last 10 months by other people both solo and party... :(
I did make formal bug reports about the various bugs in this battle (there are others too like on a second run through after dying just the first time, Mordremoth has powers he shouldn't have because it doesn't reset correctly)
-
@Fox And now my home instance is overrun with both cat-people and cats.

@Fox Don't feed the cats or they'll leave dead birds behind for you.

Only the gray ones. The orange ones just stand there and the black ones have a snowball fight. The two kittens high five apparently but I haven't been in my home instance during dawn or dusk.

Ingame it looks more like an explosion. Not sure if that's just because I'm Asura.

Third person view:
First person view:
Conclusion: Caithe sees out of her neck.
-
In addition to what I've already done:
- I need to kill and steal its bladder.
- I need to kill and steal its bladder twice.
- I need to kill , which has attacks that consist mostly of throwing rocks that cover the entire area I can move around in -- without being hit by any rocks.
- I need to kill that same dragon without any of the bomb plants exploding in a way that is considered "incorrect" but isn't adequately explained.
- I have 3 hours of video of me failing both of these objectives. Maybe I'll make a montage if I ever succeed.
- I have 8 minutes to complete 3 challenges. The first two last about 7½ minutes no matter what due to the fact that the NPC moves at the speed of a snail shell glued to the floor. The third one consists of me doing 3 things that each take about 5 seconds, but I get interrupted if an enemy so much as looks at me and the area is full of enemies that the level designers spawned in for that part just to annoy me. Also there's a significant amount of travel time between the three objectives.
If I do all of that, I get the light blue armor.
WOW LOOK HOW oh god why am I doing this

Hey @Arantor @royal_poet @Fox @FrostCat @blakeyrat,
How far are you on Heart of Thorns / Out of the Shadows / Rising Flames?
More specifically:
- I remember @Arantor and @royal_poet being stuck on the last mission of Heart of Thorns because of a bug with boss scaling. Did you try that mission with only one player in the instance?
- Last time I saw anyone ingame, it was @Arantor and @royal_poet doing Out of the Shadows content, and I think they were in the process of unlocking the Counter Magic mastery when I had to go.
- I don't remember anything about @FrostCat or @Fox, but that might just be because they're on NA so I haven't been able to join them. Still, I'm curious about your story progress, if for nothing other than knowing which spoilers I can talk about.
- I've been in contact with @blakeyrat on Steam and he hasn't been playing much GW2, but I did get him to log in to get access to Rising Flames and he also got his monthly pixel booze.
-
@ben_lubar tried Mordremoth solo as well as two people, still bugging out for me.
We finished Out Of The Shadows including all the mastery points, did the story and most of the mastery points for Rising Flames, and have lately been chilling out working towards zone completion and trying to get Tyria mastery points. E.g. over the weekend doing Lion's Arch Exterminator. That was hard work.
-
@Arantor said in Gilled Horse Chew:

How's Princess doing? Are you feeding her?
-
@ben_lubar I'm current on this expansion and its LW chapters.
-
@ben_lubar we have fed her but the Sentient Anomaly yields better drops for only slightly more expense...
-
@Arantor said in Gilled Horse Chew:

Let me guess - you still need Skip up the Volcano and Hungry Hal? Those two are tedious.
-
@Arantor said in Gilled Horse Chew:

It's actually less expense, since bloodstone dust can be mined and dragonite ore can't. (Sentient Anomaly is 25 bloodstone dust + 25 dragonite ore, Princess is 50 dragonite ore, Mawdrey II is 50 bloodstone dust, Sentient Aberration is 25 bloodstone dust + 25 empyreal fragments, Star of Gratitude is 50 empyreal fragments, and Herta is 250 bloodstone dust)
For some reason, the 50 ones eat between 3 and 6 times a day, the 25+25 ones eat 6 times a day, and Herta only eats once a day and gives loot less valuable than the 50 ones for 5 times the price.
For some even more unknown reason, the 50 ones give extremely low level soulbound unsalvageable equipment as high probability drops, just in case your level 80 character that did a bunch of complicated, tedious tasks needs a level 13 trinket or something.

Ok, so I finished crafting Unbound (on the left). Now I just need two more items to make it into the legendary backpack Ad Infinitum (on the right).
Those two items together, cost over 1000 gold.

I now have the Gift of Infinity.
Also, I discovered a new overpowered team composition:
4 necromancers and also another necromancer
