Unsuitable for double decker buses
-

Looks like the driver forgot he was in a double decker rather than thinking he could squeeze under. And I'm not sure but I think that sign might be a bit on the small side.
-
There's a bigger one directly above the entrance.
-
Is TRWTF the route planners or did the bus driver deviate?
-
The article states that this was not part of the regular route.
So... no :)
Am I now TRWTF for reading the article? :p
-
Was it a transit bus or a tour bus?
Tour buses don't really plan routes much in advance, at least not to the "which street to take" level.
-
The article states that the bus belonged to a regular line with a regular route.
edit: Yeah, I'm definitely TRWTF.
-
London, hmm perhaps a former Knight Bus driver now old and suffering from Alzheimer.
-
Am I now TRWTF for reading the article?
Of course. But TRRWTF is the bus driver not sticking to the route. And not reading roadsigns while at it.
-
It's bigger on the outside.
-
I think it's just as much big on the inside as it is on the outside. It's just the driver can't see how big it is.
-
The bigger sign has the top of a bus embedded into it.
From what I know of the route, the driver appears to have missed the turn and gone down the wrong road instead - at pretty high speed, given how far it's embedded under the bridge.
And no, the 197 doesn't normally go under a low bridge, on account of using double-decker buses!
-
In other news, bus drivers are still idiots.
If they weren't, they would be rocket scientists!
-
My school bus used to go under a low bridge as part of its normal route. One day the bus driver (owner of the company) bought a new bus which was taller than the old buses. He took the normal route but realised that he wouldn't fit under this bridge before hitting. But not before going past all the alternate turn-offs. He had to reverse several hundred metres before going down tiny side-streets to avoid doing a many-point turn. Luckily for him taking a route without the bridge wasn't really out of the way.
-
It does actually look like a tour bus, but I haven't read the article and it could be mangled into that shape. I live in London and I need to be more observant.

If they weren't, they would be rocket scientists!
Then they would get us to our destinations quicker?
