Oh hey it turned out the original issue wasn't even related to needing a reset. The phone won't stay connected to my wifi access point at 5 ghz, once I switched it to the 2.4 ghz antenna, ZAM works fine.
Well whatever, it's just an hour of my FUCKING TIME wasted.
I've actually had this issue with my android phone, I found that if you disable the 2.4ghrz antenna entirely it clears up the problem. I think it's because most routers advertise they can use both 2.4 and 5 ghrz, but the fine print actually says
#Not at the same time
and they expect you to find that. So when you have a computer connected at 5 ghrz (or random other appliances) and have data transmit at 2.4 at/around the same time, bad things happentm
TL;DR;
Try disabling 2.4, 5ghrz usually starts working well.

Just give them two different SSIDs so you know which one you are connecting to. I thought most routers supported simultaneous dual band these days?
Also, gigahertz is "GHz". Stop putting extra characters where they are not needed!

Thank you for the "D'OH!" moment.
I've been disabling one or the other on certain client devices for far too long: when the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal strengths are close, some clients start band-hop thrashing and end up with hanging connections. Using separate SSIDs for the two bands should stop them doing that. Dunno why it never occurred to me before - it's so clearly the Right Thing!
-
Mine does simultaneous dual-band. Not sure why 5 ghz doesn't work with the phone but now that I know it's a non-issue.
-
I'm using ghrz! And they are supposed to be. My experience has been use only one band for best performance and stability.
I usually label mine with -2.4 or -5 so that's never been my issue.
-
I didn't even know you could give them the same SSID. Although I also never tried.

Legitimate question, you're aware on newer models you can/have to set the password for wifi for both 2.4 and 5ghrz if you change it from the default? Otherwise it will fail connection. (Same for encryption type)

Legitimate answer: I have no idea what you are asking. For example, what is "it" in this context?
But it's a safe bet I'm aware of everything, being omniscient and all.
-
Newer versions/models of router have two ssid/password/encryption type fields, one for 2.4ghrz, one for 5. If you changed the password on the 2.4, and not the 5 it might be your issue. (Or an unrelated security concern)
Higher end models have the same setup for guest networks, doesn't apply in your case, but mentioning it for mott.
-
Ok but I still don't know what "it" is.
-
It is your routers default password provided by the manufacturer

How can a password fail connection?

Let's play a game. Hang on because discourse Mobile sucks.

Ok, now what is "the device"? The router itself? The cellphone? My car? Are you the guy they hire to document open source software?
Oh wait I no longer care, because I'm pretty sure whatever confusing-ass thing you're trying to explain doesn't apply to me.
-
This post was really fucking hard on mobile.
-
-
The device can be anything that connects to a router, a phone, a computer, your vibrator, whatever.
-
Here is my suggestion to you for next time: MAKE SENSE!
Then you don't have to spend hours going back and explaining yourself.
-
I'm pretty sure you were being wilfully ignorant.

I'm pretty sure you were being wilfully ignorant.
Well obviously your failure to communicate is my fault. That's a good strategy to go through life with, give it a go.
-
How's your cubical working out for you?
-
It is working out in a way that a person feels a certain way about when they use the device.
-
I hear the devices are getting pretty good, they can be hooked in to the rift and have motors.
On a similar note, my rift came, 100 percent recommend, would and will buy again. Skip Google glass (Also from experience), the rift is the future.

your vibrator

Hmm…

People already beat your hmm on both sides of the fence. It exists for both.

BAM. In the reminders. Keyed to geographical location. SLICKER THAN SNOT.
I have this on my android, and damn, it's awesome :D When my husband was away for the summer I started pushing the limits of what my phone could recognize as a reminder... and it scored higher than my husband ;)
-
-
Experience tells me this is a very low bar.
You also have used @Yamikuronue's husband as a task app?
-

No you do not, you have the PALE IMITATION!
When my husband was away for the summer I started pushing the limits of what my phone could recognize as a reminder... and it scored higher than my husband
I have no context to know if that is impressive or not. Me personally, I can't remember shit.
-
You also have used @Yamikuronue's husband as a task app?
Are you saying that husbands aren't interchangeable as reminder apps?
-
this = "this feature", not "this app". I have the feature to set reminders based on geographical location. It's been part of the Google Now suite for ages.
-
Are you saying that husbands aren't interchangeable as reminder apps?
Depends on what's socially acceptable where you live and your religion, I guess...
-
Try disabling 2.4, 5ghrz usually starts working well.
Oh ho--I'll have to check that, because my older android phone is constantly losing connection[1] to the router and I have to reboot the router to get it back.
[1] under certain circumstances. Usually when I leave the house with it and it connects to some other wifi, like at a coffee shop or work. When i get home it will silently refuse to connect to the home wireless.
-
what my phone could recognize as a reminder... and it scored higher than my husband
You know we do that on purpose, right? There's even a reason for it.
-
-
But I've forgotten what the reason is.
I can't tell you when there are wives present!
-
Doesn't matter; I am, sadly, no longer a husband.

What is that, like a portmanteau of "harm" and "Manhattan?"
"The Harmattan is a hot, dry and dusty wind blowing over West Africa"
