I think that's oneboxing, i.e. Discourse is deciding for you to show the post, not the link.
-
except that there are now three posts (23, 53, 54) in this topic that will apparently never be oneboxed from any post at all
-
Mysterious are the ways of Discourse!

http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-official-hack-testing-thread/1081/53
Might well be that only the first raw url is oneboxed.

So.... perhaps a we-don't-like-nested-quotes thing.
-
Nested quotes are a barrier to civilised discourse and therefore Jeff doesn't like them.

Just because Discourse is a barrier to nested quotes doesn't mean I don't like them.
-
There's the problem: Jeff doesn't care what you think.
I like nested quotes too, and it makes me sad that Discourse doesn't seem to especially like quotes much at all in the first place, let alone nested quotes.
-

Personally enjoying all the stupid @codinghorror ways that Discourse @codinghorror screws up quoting.
It's a pretty good @codinghorror game in and of @codinghorror itself.Seriously though, what's going to happen to this future @codinghorror self-referencing quote-bomb??

Interesting, @codinghorror <ol> @codinghorror start @codinghorror parameter @codinghorror is @codinghorror an @codinghorror int. @codinghorror Guess @codinghorror I @codinghorror never @codinghorror paid @codinghorror enough @codinghorror attention @codinghorror to @codinghorror breaking @codinghorror it. @codinghorror W3C @codinghorror should @codinghorror define @codinghorror how @codinghorror to @codinghorror handle @codinghorror wrapping.

I think you're actually wrong about non-nested quotes there. He did speak about quoting people when replying to multiple posts at once. So I guess they work as intended. I mean, this is v0.9.
Filed under: Fucking hell, why do my fingers seem to always want to type "qoute"?
-
Just because they worked as intended by the developer does not mean that's working well for everyone else.
-
- why @codinghorror doesn't @codinghorror this @codinghorror # @codinghorror get bold/italics, @codinghorror if @codinghorror the @codinghorror line @codinghorror item @codinghorror does?
- works @codinghorror here
- and @codinghorror here
Ninja @codinghorror - nevermind, @codinghorror it @codinghorror does @codinghorror get @codinghorror bolded, @codinghorror just @codinghorror not @codinghorror in @codinghorror the @codinghorror preview. @codinghorror . @codinghorror .

WTF are you doing?

Beating Discourse at its own game.

WTF are you doing?
It's @dkf called @dkf winning.
@dkf @dkf
Or @dkf something, @dkf I @dkf don't @dkf know, @dkf but @dkf it @dkf is @dkf humoring @dkf me @dkf right @dkf now @dkf and @dkf that's @dkf all @dkf that @dkf matters.

Ok, 9007199254740991, 9007199254740992, and 9007199254740993 as post ids / topic ids trigger a error 500 response.
Foobar.Edit: ok, 9007199254740991 as post id in reply doesn't break posting any longer.

Hmm... Doesn't like copy/pasted spaces for indentation, and I'm not about to sit here for ages mashing the space bar...
(Posted from mobile version, since the js was having a hissy fit trying to do the preview...
Also doing a binary search to find out when the server 500 errors stop happening when I post)
edit - this isn't going as well as I expected...

It would seem that the preview isn't the only one throwing a hissy fit.

Weird. I'd call that a problem with either onchange not triggering on c/p, or using onkey<something>
But why in the hell would that affect the server-side / client-side baking of the actual post, as opposed to the preview... do I even wanna know, really?
Spoilers and links don't go well together

And if I put an image after the link it seems to make it even less effective

Actually never mind. An image inside spoiler tags breaks the spoiling of everything else, period.
I was going to open a bug, but now I'm wondering if it's intentional: @codinghorror @sam
If I write:
In "The Sixth Sense" Haley Joel Osment's character is a robot. <img src='/uploads/default/3013/19a5b9262f07ad8a.jpg'> lol j/k
...only the image gets blurred, although clicking the text will also unspoil, which I guess can
be useful sometimes:
In "The Sixth Sense" Haley Joel Osment's character is a robot. lol j/k
I've also noticed emoji texts fail to become their respective images.

That is a bug
-
The entire blurred image disappears when I hover it, and the text isn't blurred at all.
-
Oh, it's some kind of crazy SVG bullshit.
@Arantor is going to be real happy when I say this blur thing is junk.
-
I don't like those developers who are all OH OH NEW EXPERIMENTAL TECHNOLOGY I MUST USE IT IN PRODUCTION *forcefully cums in pants*
I am in a nonhappy mood today and a little tired. Can you tell?
-
Discourse is an experimental technology. rimshot

I think you mean cumshot

This HTML thing is way too complex. Why do people still bother with it? You can just create a <canvas> element that covers the whole screen and render everything with a customisable javascript-based graphics engine. No more limitations, no more differences on browser rendering!
(laugh if you want, I bet $20 we'll see someone doing that before a decade)
