Best way to take JSON and turn it into a useful object?
-
I'm usually home since 1994.
Ok, since I'm not sure if you just didn't get that was 24-hour time, or if you're trolling, I'm buttuming that you're trolling.
-
That is a correct buttumption.

That's scary; you're the same age as my daughter. I'm glad there's 2000 miles between you and her.

I've got a sorting question for you: are you 19 or 20?
-
This blew my mind. Screw your non typical before/after timestamps!

use jQuery. and possibly XML.

Please stop channelling StackOverflow.

Needs one more for the holy trifecta.
-
You mean PHP?

Processing namespaced XML (better yet, SOAP!) with PHP and jQuery…
Yep. That does it.
-
I saw another post of his that indicated Monday.
-
Would XSLT do the trick?
-
Burn in a fire.
-
Only if you implement it with jQuery.
jQuery's good at XML… until you drop namespaces on it when it goes to pieces because the developers are actually clueless shit-kickers when it comes to XML processing.

XSLT isn't really made to help with JSON transforms. The best bet is to do something like @cartman82 suggested, and build a serializer/deserializer. There are actually a few methods available in .NET, and I'm sure that other languages are capable of the same thing.
-
Just because something is not made for that does not mean someone won't make a WTF out of making it do so.
-
True, I just hope that pointing out that it isn't suited for that purpose may prevent said WTF.
Filed Under: Apparently, I'm an optimist

People will commit WTFs even if we tell them not to.
-
Sad, but true.

We definitely need sarcasm tags.

I'm not actually taking additional suggestions on what to do, this was resolved over the weekend, then improved using cartmans class (which is what I had tried to do originally, but failed at because I didn't realize json wanted me to create a secondary class for chatters. Amateur mistake related to json parsing)
I thought this topic was just going off in the usual meandering direction to find out progressively worse alternatives to a stated problem.
