Amazon uses MySQL.
I beg to differ - Amazon is predominantly, if not exclusively, an Oracle shop. I know for a fact that the stuff behind searching and buying is Oracle, and so is their "data warehouse", if there is only one.
Most, if not all, of the shopping front end is Java, and they don't use much in the way of stored procedures, if that makes you feel any better. Generally, Amazon techies are from the school that all "business logic" must be in the middle tier, so they are not using Oracle at full capacity. Why you'd buy Oracle and not use it the way it was intended has always been a mystery to me.
