I literally just said on chat that I would like to upgrade the Bramblejack as long as it's not something like "kill malachai wearing it"
Well, the requirement is to kill daresso wearing it. Not much better.

@Magus I'm playing with scyill right now, he got the unique item prophecy. this guy has way too much luck
"Performance Improvements" don't begin to describe what the update did to the game, the update cut the time the game took to open for me from 2 minutes to 4 seconds
@Magus Bane of legends prevents the overkill leech from endless hunger unless you would have overkilled the mob from over 20% damagelife, that's the only sad thing on that tree
@Magus I was going for CA tho, and it is not affected by %spell damage.
for those, I think I would use something like this:
I hope that those chaos nodes are worth more than spell damage, I imagine both 15% increased damage over time and 15% increased chaos damage stack
TIL that "cheap" means 15 ex on the PoE forums. (that's the price of a build for occultist chaos spells)
I'm tinkering around this passive tree:
I think I should be able to do it taking the ES nodes first.
also, I think I picked up Zealoths oath but no way to regen life, need to rethink that. I also would like to find some points to get Growth and decay but, with CI, I don't feel confortable taking any more points from ES, +252% already looks like it's on the low end.
Yesterday I tried a ranger using CA. I kinda feel more confortable with that, maybe because
I didn't take such a stride on the passive tree, maybe because it's a bow skill and the ranger looks like the archer of the bunch.
@Magus what spells do you use for that occultist build? ED + Contagion? I find them slow in the early game, something I'm missing?
I kinda wanted to make a elementalist based on the heralds, where you would use something like kinetic blast to trigger all of the heralds, then see if they can chain off each other. I would need a serious chance to shock and freeze tho.
I do want to play a witch, I'm just at a loss when it comes to which spells I should use. Maybe even caustic arrow?
(I know that's an attack)
@blek I want to do some variation of CoC with the physical spells, but that might be too expensive to start, people say that one cheap build to start a league is caustic arrow, so I might be doing that.
@Magus even with half the armor?
Edit: well, it's giving up 5k armor for 1k health, considering how armor is doing nothing for me right now, I might be getting a better deal than I think...
This is the skill tree of the character that makes me rage by dying too much: passive tree
(it's konohosame on my profile http://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Sentenryu/characters)
Aside from the mace nodes that I was on the process of undoing (dumb idea going for a stun build with my ammount of experience, worked fine on normal, not at all after cruel), should I've gone for more life than armor then?
I intend it to be like this one after reset: passive tree
That will give me enough resists to swap the "Corpse Grip" Ruby Ring I'm using by another that rolled +40% fire and lightning resistance, the only reason I'm not using that one now is because of the cold resistance that is already quite low.
(And don't mind the mess I made with the gems, I'm well aware it's quite bad right now, I'm using only enduring cry, the EQ links and Heavy strike, the rest is just leveling)
@Magus the step up on difficulty is real, the laser does nothing on cruel.
I admit that I wanted to see if I would survive the slam with those defenses, but the laser was way too fast for me, I ended up just running around him for most of the fight and using my Earthquake when he tried the Ice attack.
I think it was fun (would have been more if I had more damage) but I'm starting to get frustrated that my defenses seen to not matter at all, as even normal mobs can deal 1k damage per hit to me. I start to wonder if it wouldn't be better to just invest into damage so that I can kill things faster and then just run away from danger, as this game has very little unavoidable damage (chaos damage auras being the exception, and those are really rare, I only saw one monster that has it until now)
then again, I do need to replace most of my gear to fix my resists after getting to merciless, I swaped a ring after my first death to the oversoul to get more lightning resist, but that cost me too much cold resist. And most of my gear has way more armor than anything I can get to replace it, my belt has 110 armor for starters
Is armor more or less valuable than 75% resist to a element?
@Magus It only hits on friday tho, I got home really hyped to play it but had to make do with getting my ass kicked by the oversoul on merciless standard.
fricking laser 2 shots me with fortify and 75% resists, the slam on shots me with 25k armor(flask), fortify and a physical reduction flask (not sure if those stack) I need better speed boots to get out of the way faster.
@Magus how would they generate power charges? with the assassin node for power charge on non crit? or with Power Charge on Critical Support? or both?
I just 3 shot malachai with 37 BV stacks. if this build wasn't a papper doll, I would keep it.
@Magus it targets the enemy that dealt the damage last
Targeting - Targeted spells will cast towards the enemy that caused the last damage. Reflected damage is considered to come from the enemy originally damaged.
Not sure what would happen if the target died as a result of reflect tho.
Edit: warping on crit sounds awesome and a headache at the same time
Ah, well I built around that so I was definitely welcoming that aspect of it. Just wanted it to cruise me through mobs while I held down shift/attack :)
yep, lazy build.
Edit: Wow, that emote is massive! a hard refresh fixed it, sadly
@Lathun I can't imagine why someone would want to be moved on top of the attacker without any input. It does leave a damaging fire trail, maybe it's a lazy build?
@Lathun flame dash works best if you hold shift as you trigger it. What I don't understand is why it needs both a delay and a cooldown.
@Lathun mine doesn't need the flask to outrun the spikes unless there's mobs on them.
Warp is not really viable to keep on a build that takes to many increased duration nodes as mine, it takes a century to teleport you. At the same time, I don't have enough attack speed to make WB fast enough.
@Magus I aways get caught by the roombas (excellent name BTW) when I don't expect them, I just can't see the pressure plates. If you guys had not called them out on that run I did with you, I wouldn't even know they existed.
@Lathun I actually got a lightning warp gem just to do the labyrinth. it really helps being able to skip the worst gauntlets.
There's a specific gauntlet that I absolutelly hate: the one just before a silver/gold cache where 2 tall spike traps go in opposite directions on the corridor. I aways end up hurt on this one, If only I could control the character with WASD, it would be so much better.
I'll probably reset this shadow into the movement skill's build I was planning before prophecy, now that he actually has 2 Ascendancy points it should be viable to reserve 100% mana and go nuts with WB + all heralds, just need to run some math to see if it's worth to get some reduced mana reserved nodes or not.
@Magus the thing that guts this build the most is the cast time, it makes it very hard to get out of the way of the big attacks. It's also hilarious that I can't get away, the character has 59% increased movement speed.
I have problems with the rotating spike traps and mobile sawblades (the horizontal ones), mostly what kills me is the gauntlets to get to the golden key.
I think there's something wrong with my client, as most of the time the dart traps do nothing to me, I'm hit, get the visual effect, but lose no life. I can't explain why, maybe I really am blocking the projectile?
My only comment is that the more I run the labyrinth, the more I HATE the traps.
PoE's movement commands are less than ideal to traverse those gauntlets.
On the other hand, I found out that the blade vortex poison build is not as awesome as I thought, it rules everything until after the first enconter with voll but has too little defenses against anything that comes after, Specially bosses, you have to stay put for too much time in order to deal any damage, as 2~3 blades simple don't deal enough. The poison is mostly inconsequential, as it scales with the original hit and each hit of blade vortex is quite weak.
This build would be so much better if Life Gain on Hit worked with BV
Things I find while planning a build, Walking nuke assassin: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1656405
That's one way of culling a boss... I guess...
@Magus I think as long as I get enough chaos orbs to buy Bino's Kitchen Knife, I can do a CoC blade vortex poison build. Divinarius and Carcass Jack are non-essential, but nice to have if the build can pay for it.
That's decided then, I'll be playing lawn mower weed killer assassin on prophecy.
@Magus but would it be worth to do a CoC blade vortex? changing for a more efficient spell would lose the build theme, that being lawn mower.
@Magus that's the part I don't understand about CoC, how does it cast faster than manual, if you do not aways crit and if it doesn't aways trigger?
@Magus Katanas? If I didn't had one on my stash I would think you where joking
I just thought about linking poison to blade vortex and going full cast speed + raw physical damage. If it works for bladefall, it might work for blade vortex too. Trickster would allow one to get frenzy charges on kill. Weave the Arcane might also help sustaining the casts, and there's plenty of physical and chaos damage nodes near shadow.
The notable Fatal Toxins is also near. Incidentally, now that I've added poison, both assassin and trickster offer bonuses to damage over time, trickster allowing for more consistent damage and assassin for better bursts with criticals.
I'm inclined to got with trickster because the defense options are better and it's easier to rebuild stacks.
@Lathun that build looks crazy expensive tho, and you have to level as another build.
I'm sure it pays itself given time, but it's way out of my league
Every build I think about today seens to draw me to the shadow/witch area, at this rate, prophecy will begin and I'll still have no idea on what to play.
Current idea is to do crit blade vortex (not CoC, manually cast), people are theory crafting a building it as a slayer due to the increased radius on Impact and Headsman, combined with the overkill leech, but it seens that the leech on overkill does not apply if you take the culling node, that you need to take to get to Headsman
I was thinking of either going Assassin for the Crit chance and multiplier from the power charges or Trickster for the extra defense and faster casting from frenzy charges.
Not sure if it would be better to crit a lot or cast a lot of blades.
@Lathun I find Fire Nova Mine quite fun to use, wonder if I can make it deal enough damage to be viable.
@Lathun and probably will me nerfed on this patch, or so reddit seens to think, but we know they're wrong most of the time.
I don't quite understand why poison stacks but bleeding and burning don't, but the fact that it does stack seen to make bladefall poison really strong.
I'm wondering what can be made with traps next patch. I still find the fact that mines can place traps quite funny.
@Lathun there's a poison support, so you can make basically any skill that can be used with the axe bleed and poison. And the axe is really cheap, a 3L one is selling for 1c
I was looking up how much an exalt was worth (to see how much cheaper Jack, The Axe is in relation to the one other Item with the same effect, Atziri's disfavour) and I think someone might have reversed their numbers:
Either that, or I'm waaay richer than I thought
Did anyone take a look at the berserker changes?
For starters:
Men, that looks good, but know what looks even better? savage hit now means a hit that took away 15% of your max life instead of 20%
Sanctuary of Thought (Hierophant) got interesting too:
before: Gain 15% of maximum mana as maximum energy shield
Now:
That's a huge buff. Also, do those multipliers stack for free skills on maximum ES? or is it half the cost?
Time of Need (Guardian) now works every 5 seconds instead of 10 and always reduces curse effects by 25%
Bastion of Hope (Guardian) also got interesting, 5% additional block chance, every 5 seconds you get 50% additional block chance for 1 second. unreliable tho.
Why the heck is Necromancer outshining Guardian on auras?
Commander of Darkness:
Raider gains phasing both at full frenzy charges and while she has onslaught (with Quartz Infusion)
On Deadeye:
Sharp and Venomous chaged so much that it got a new name: Rupture
Powerful Precision on the other hand, need a new name, because it got just as many "buffs":
Arrows are now boomerangs.
Pathfinder now has a 20% chance for flasks to not consume charges on Nature's boon
People were talking about nerfs across the board, but there's only buffs and the occasional shift in power.
This update is looking awesome.
@Magus I read that before fighting him the first time and only noticed it was him once I looked up that The Brittle Emperor card dropped from him
As an aside, cadiro is selling a redblade band for 5024 coins on merciless mud flats, but I don't have nearly enough coins, if anyone wants it, I can keep the instance alive for quite some time.
@blek I got locked by my own attack
Heavy strike + multistrike is a bit too much time locked in place
@Magus that's why I'm so pissed, I didn't even realize he had a name the first time.
@Magus around 1.9k, he one shot me with that slam of his several times, as i told you before, I MUST have screwed something on this build. My leech duelist (first character) killed him so fast that I only saw one attack the first time I fought him, and that duelist HAD 1k life and less than half my resists at that point.
I forgot to mention that this juggernaut was dying to voll under the effect of a Granite Flask Of Iron Skin (probably my best flask), for a total of 25500 armor and 75% to all resists except chaos.
Looks like everything in this game deals chaos damage.
@Magus I just need to find a build that both can handle the content and that i'll like to play, probably a variation of champion or slayer.
I finally got a character to merciless. The juggernaut that couldn't kill voll. -60% chaos resist, this will be fun...
@Lathun Right now I'm trying to determine if Celestial Punishment (25% increased Damage against Frozen, Shocked, or Ignited enemies. 5% chance to Freeze, Shock, or Ignite.) will affect RF, I guess only if RF damage can ignite, and I'm not sure if it can, as it's degeneration and never hits.
I know that Occultist's dominion's 16% increased spell damage doesn't, but Holy Fire's 40% increased burning damage does.
@Magus / @Lathun I thought it worked like the reduction from fortify, as a final modifier, don't they use "less" when it works like that?
Second case of inconsistent wording today, the culling when hit that was added to the slayer tree was read by many people as "kill enemies when (you're) hit" instead of "kill enemies when (they're) hit"
@Lathun I see that you love the shadow...
Why do you have both Increased Critical Damage and Controlled Destruction linked to the same spell? (On Weaver_is_my_waifu)
Doesn't Controlled Destruction make it impossible to crit with that spell?
@magus good news for the RF Totem build:
Spell Totem Support now has a smaller damage penalty, at level 1 it has changed from 50% less to 35% less. At level 20 it has changed from 31% less to 26% less.
@Lathun I can't find a single slot on the tree where I would use that gem, any good use cases?
@Lathun so, that jewel is the reason that there's no slot near mortal conviction...
@Magus I see, so it's not the keystone that's of interest, makes sense.
