My assumption has always been that the guys who ask those kinds of questions are kids, hobbyists or students. Maybe I'm being optimistic.

I don't use MySQL, but I'm pretty sure more recent versions (last couple of years) have stored procedures. The linked article is 5 years old. Having said that, Postgresql is probably still a better alternative.

Well, the quality of EE varies widely by category. The points whoring is obnoxious, but encourages fast answers. Few things are more frustrating than researching a problem on Google and finding a half dozen unanswered posts on various forums from people experiencing the same issue - from two years ago.

That's nothing. My father couldn't figure out how to send links. Solution? He'd print the web page, scan it, then email the scan to me.
To be fair, though, he'd had a stroke.

Similar thing happened to me when my bank changed ownership. I had automatic bill pay set up with the dates my checks would mail. After the ownership change, the existing dates stayed the same - until I made an edit. Although I did not change the date (only the amount), the update apparently changed the date from "date mailed" to "date recipient will have check in hand".
