Maslow's hierarchy of needs has more holes
in it than a good Swiss cheese. There are loads of examples of people who
will disregard their physiological needs in favour of needs further up the
pyramid: Tibetan monks setting themselves on fire, suicide bombers, hunger
strikers, anybody basically that deprives their physiological needs for somebody or
something they value more than themselves. Not just extremists: a poor
parent that puts food on their child’s plate even though they go hungry.
It has had its day.<o:p></o:p>
