Superb rebuff; beautifully delivered; and so accurate. We have just run a benchmark test of Oracle. The quickest we could perform an install in a UNIX environment was a shade over 2 hours and our guy's got many years of Oracle DBA experience.
I think the assertion that most data management tasks can be performed without the use of Oracle is sound. I wonder if you could elaborate and suggest the type of applications for which you would use Oracle. You've suggested, for example, that telecommunication companies need Oracle but you haven't said what type of applications within a telecommunications business might need it.
