Pascal/Fortran/Cobol/Delphi/VB/VB.NET/C/C++/Java
--> C#/.NET
Um, you're not serious right?
C/C++ is an aging titan, but a titan none the less. It
still towers over Java and .Net in the sheer bredth of things you can
do. There's not much that can't be tackled by a mix of
C/C++ (and ASM since in can be inlined). And that's not counting
the fact that the OS you're using right now is probably written in C.
The biggest thing to remember is use the right tool for the job.
Saying C# is the right tool for all cases would be like telling a
surgeon that a framing hammer was the best tool for open heart surgery.
