So I'm not crazy for noticing it just now...

RE: alloca() is hard...
@gąska No. If you're the programmer who has a problem avoiding being an idiot, use something other than C. C is a language for non-idiots; it punishes the dumb and ill-thought-out (sometimes by letting their code work for a while before crashing in flames).
Still, removing mostly useless features is good. Given how local variables work,
alloca()is almost entirely useless in C++, and absolutely useless in C.
RE: Edge's (lack of) WebM support
@lb_ I first met BBBunny when Microsoft promoted Silverlight with it. The demo was pretty impressive: it could change the resolution during playback to accommodate to screenspace size changes or network funkiness. YouTube couldn't do that back then.
It still can't. It either locks me in lowest quality, pauses every other second for buffering, or both.
RE: PSA: Lunix haz teh bugz
It also recommends recompiling all userland code with the –fstack-check option which would prevent the stack pointer from moving into other memory regions. Qualys concedes, however, this is an expensive solution, but one that cannot be defeated unless there is an unknown vulnerability in the –fstack-check option.
Oh fuck right off. It's fucking 2017, CPU is literally our least constrained resource. There is no reason for any normal software to be compiled without every fucking safety check in the goddamned book turned on. It's not expensive - it's fucking minimum due diligence.
Fucking C people.
Rust in debug mode compiles with overflow checks on almost every single arithmetic operation. This makes the whole program 10-100x slower in every place.
