So basically, he was trying to create an entire filesystem in single file within a file system.
Maybe this was what he meant by there being no need for an OS. Even the source code itself is an example of this innovation. It just needed more work.

As someone who has a Ubuntu box as well as an XP box. I cannot agree with you more.
Linux will never be ready for the primetime, just like developers never find their own bugs (Thats why we have QA).
The horribly not standard implementations of GUI's across distro's show that developers like to create eye candy without actually thinking about the end users. In the paid software world that I exist in, we have things such as useability studies and focus groups, and we still don't get things perfect.
I am not sure what universe you live in but none of that makes the slightest bit of sense. What nonstandard implementation? Or, even, what implementation? The majority of software in a distro is upstream, even for handholding distros like Ubuntu.
You are aware that developers ARE the end users, right? And that software goes through a testing phase as well, just with a broader audience? You make it sound like Bugzilla, mailing lists or any other form of contact doesn't exist.

Yes, WTF indeed. Somehow you have interpreted my post as saying I disliked it when in fact I haven't even been able to view it.Yes ender, please bend to the whims of the only person here who didn't like this.
Don't bother to take the praise of the rest of us who thought your animation kicked ass.
Seriously, wtf...

Yeah, I tried pwgen; it seemed more aimed towards storing passwords than generating them

That is pretty sweet - an embedded animated gif - never seen one use to quite this largest scale.

echo "hunter2";I plan to distribute this as FOSS. It's really lightweight and requires no other libraries (except what's needed for sh to run).
No Windows version? Not all of us are Unix geeks.

I wouldn't bother to enable javascript. Obtrusive methods like that are a red flag in my book. This is the style of spambot that looks for every submittable form and just types its message into it without regard for what the form is actually for. I used to get the same thing a lot on my blog.
In my case, I was able to cut it down to exactly nothing by base64 encoding the comment form and having a short javascript that does the base64 decode. If you have Javascript enabled, you see the comment form; if not, you see a short message telling you to enable Javascript. I have had literally zero spam messages posted since then (about a year and a half ago).
