no, if your are iterating over the collection the collection must not change. so if there is a change in de collection the iterator is invalid. the version check makes sure that the iterator fails when the collection change

a week ago i was on a flight where they use the system too. it was showing where we where flying and some other stuf (altitude, time of arrival etc) but is was rebooting al the time. so after a few screens is crashed and rebooted....

He isn't actualy throwing away the original stack: he is just throwing the exception. If the original programmer rely wants to dispose the original stacktrace, he must do the folowing:
throw new RuntimeException(e.getMessage);
Most import: the transaction isn't rolledback!
