In 2003, I worked as a teaching assistant for a second level intro computer science course. I don't recall exactly what the week's assignment was but in some part of it, it required the display of the date. Somehow, I always got the dumb ones. This guy in particular managed to take the system date provided by Java, extract the year, subtract from 1900, then re-concatonated it into 19103. This pissed me off, but not as much as when the head TA said that since "no Y2K bugs" wasn't listed on the criteria, I couldn't dock him points for it.
