RE: Internet Explorer identity crisis
Careful.. we found hacks like this and MultipleIEs don't quite cut it because they have to hack about with the registry so much - VMs are the only way to go for browser testing.

RE: Error in413REQUEST URI
Some ad URLs are massive because they're 'chained' - eg. the URL for the destination is encoded in the click forwarding URL, which is encoded in another company's click forwarding URL, which is encoded in another, etc. The click URLs can be 0.5-1k each in many cases. Good thing IE supports a whopping, erm, 2k chars...

If that is really how the conversation went then the problem is that you kept cutting him off. Some people like to give too much background information to people (yeah it sucks, but get used to it). It looks like a lot of this is him telling a somewhat long story and then you cutting in, making and assumption and then getting him off track. Yeah, he did a poor job communicating, but you didn't help either.
Right on... assume nothing, question everything, and realise that users are being asked to use terminology they're not familiar with and do things they've never done with minimal instructions. We get the usual mistakes here - by "Internet" they mean "web browser", by "CPU" they mean "PC case" etc.

Sorry for the shit quality, photofuckit struck
Oh, the irony: the file mentioned in the screenshot is a png, the screenshot isn't.Why do we have this holy war on lossy screenshots? I'd rather get the joke from a 40K JPG than a 400K PNG thanks. So many sidebar commenters seem to find lossy images offensive even if it doesn't detract from whatever is being shown - anyone care to elighten me?

RE: If the language developers cannot get it right...
It gets even better... it seems they're using the raw URL string! Try:
'); -- coolsqlinjection
The %xx encoded chars are being passed straight in to the database! -

RE: Completely Undocumented DOM Class: dispHTMLElementCollection
Not a WTF. It's widely documented that getElementsBy* returns a node list object, not an array. The actual class name is different in different browsers (Opera - NodeList, Firefox - HTMLCollection). dispHTMLElementCollection seems to be the IE equivalent.
Having said that,
alert(Object.prototype.toString.call( document.getElementsByTagName("h1") ));
returns 'Object' in IE. But it doesn't matter what it's called, it works the same way. And doesn't support the push method.
