Boy. This HOME DEPOT survey has way more examples of WTFery. At least they specifically mention the question is for screening.

RE: But what if I don't want to select 2
I had figured the question was a bot screener as well. But this survey was also adaptive, asking several follow-up questions in relation to my initial Most/Least responses. That seems like a more logical approach to weeding out bots and bored participants.
I don't see the need for both and this question actually de-valued the survey in my opinion.

But what if I don't want to select 2
I wish all multiple choice surveys were this easy...

RE: Another KIOSK bytes the dust
The WTF to me is it appears the BGInfo is in the startup script and is likely blocking the execution of the KIOSK software because it is waiting for this dialog. The BGInfo information isn't useful or necessary unless the system is being serviced and in that case could be started under a service account or on demand.

Another KIOSK bytes the dust
Snapped this at the food court in the Great Northern Mall near Cleveland Ohio.

RE: Dynamically generated javascript
I'm guessing the original code looked more like this...
<html> <script language="Javascript">
if (<%=ServerVariable%>== -1) { do a thing}
if (<%=ServerVariable%> == 0) { do another thing}
if (<%=ServerVariable%> == 1) { do another thing}
if (<%=ServerVariable%> == 2) { do another thing}
</script>
</html>
This is a pretty common method for passing server side variables into local script. The code here may be changing the state of buttons, showing or hiding DIVs, etc. -
RE: X10 web development
Oh man. This is the very first time I've felt sorry for somebody posting about their work place. That page is awful. I didn't think it could get any worse and then I followed the link to the *NEW* home page. Nothing will make me close a browser faster than some auto-start flash with audio yelling at me.
You have my condolences.

RE: Variable Failure
@keelerm84 said:
strSQL = "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE column <> 'Not3'"
So, did he ever figure out that he was getting every row?

RE: Linux kernel WTF
Unless there's some validation of the offset in the parameters list and limit check on the INT value of that parameter before this line it seems like you could pass in a parameter value that would unintentionally overwrite memory not related to the menu. Pretty common looking C code, but still scary.

RE: Website Design Consultant???
The site says that now. When I posted this originally it was not "under construction". In fact, it looks like in response to postings here they may have taken the entire site down. I'm not bashing that their site wasn't complete. What I thought interesting was the very cheap bid for work that they should have been able to do in house, since it was listed as one of their services.
