also why have each sports team have their own domain??
Only for the important ones like football and baseball.I bet it's so they can say them over the loud speaker and people will remember them. And considering ladies lacross has one as well, I bet it's only for the teams that have someone who's willing to devote their time to creating and maintaining it.
Interestingly those sites are much better than the main page. Even girls lax website, which is supposingly maintained by the high school girls, is a lot better than the main site. My guess is that they let the school kids design and make the school site in order to learn how to do it. But it seems like they haven't been having very good guidance. Maybe they should ask the girls from lacross to help them out.

Conned? no. It's a part of the solar system, even if it's not a planet. The only thing that was a bigger pain in the ass than Jupiter was the asteroid belt.
I bet they conned you into buying Pluto too.@Zemm said:
installing the solar system
I got one of those. Jupiter was a pain in the ass to get through the door though.guys, I think you're missunderstanding Zemm. I bet he meant he was going to install solar panels to heat up the water.

First posted WTF, please be gentle
I used to be a windows system admin for a collection agency based in Canada. Our collection system was developed in-house over the years on an AS/400 I-Series 5. There were various modules built to get data from the clients (collection accounts) into the system, ranging from importing native AS/400 files/CSV text files/other datafiles to entering each account by hand
The main sales director didn't really trust any of the import routines though. For every client that would send us a few dozen accounts at a time (usually an emailed Excel Spreadsheet), he would:
-
Format the document in excel to be printed at one page wide.
-
Print the document.
-
Scan-to-email (pdf image) the printed document to himself,
-
Email that document to one of the admin staff, who would then:
-
Enter each account manually from either the screen, or (usually) another printed copy.
He could let the system do it's job. He could even send the actual spreadsheet so the poor admin clerk could at least copy and paste. But no. He had apparently been asked about this many times (before I got there), but always brushed off the inquiry. His management didn't care, because he got the clients and accounts for the company.
Thanks for reading.
Admin is happy because there's less automation of the job, thus there can be more admins. Manager is happy because, well, why wouldn't he be? Everyone wins.

How about making a copy of the file on the production server, editing it in vim over ssh <...snip...>
And there you have TRWTF: using or recommending people to use things like vim.
*ducks*
You're right. Everyone knows ed is the only true editor.

No. It's because JPEG screenshots look awful and often take more space. You have to make screenshots PNG, not everything, at least when they are mostly text. It's not like it's difficult to select a different option when saving.
<font size="1">Call me elitist and whiny but JPEG screenshots are wrong wrong wrong.</font>
Sure, it's not hard to select a different option to save the file as, agreed. But you derailed a thread because you didn't like the format of the screenshot file... As far as looking awful, it doesn't look pixilated to me. The scale looks fine. Maybe its my eyesite, but I can't tell the difference between the JPEG image and the PNG one I created just now for reference.
Well I must give in... I just downloaded the posted JPEG to my desktop and converted it to PNG. I looked very, very closely and couldn't find any different at all. So I guess it does not really matter as much in this case.
You have to print it, place it on top of a wooden table and take a picture. That picture should be scanned, saved in JPG and, only then, converted to PNG. That's because an analogic camera has much better resolution and scanners are a proven technology.
