Anyone else getting a virus warning...
-
...when they view the "I never realized it was so dangerous to be a programmer" thread? AVG is telling me that it is detecting and blocking BAT/Formatx...
-
It's because AVG is being paranoid because of this post in the thread, which, ironically, details exactly that paranoia.
-
Nope, since I don't run overly paranoid virus checkers. And AVG's page for BAT/Formatx is unsurprising light on detail about what it is they've actually blocked.

Hmm - time for an addition to my signature on some other forums I think...It's because AVG is being paranoid because of this post in the thread, which, ironically, details exactly that paranoia.

I'm not getting any warnings from my AV. To be fair, my workstation runs Symantec and I could probably download and install every virus on the Internet without it stopping me. It does do five simultaneous scans every afternoon though, despite having no scheduled scans set up!
Now I kinda want to see a legitimate attack where an HTML page can format your hard drive like AVG is a paranoid about.

It would be sort of funny. Unfortunately it wouldn't affect anyone unless they are running Windows 98 or older.I'm not getting any warnings from my AV.
