Not sure why VMware cared that Eclipse was running but it did...
VMWare installs a plugin into Eclipse that allows you debug processes on a virtual machine. Installs it into Visual Studio too.
VMWare's installer is still a WTF, since every minor update (eg. 8.0.0 to 8.0.1) requires you to reboot twice - first after uninstalling the old version, then after installing the new version. VirtualBox OTOH manages to handle upgrades without a single reboot (it does terminate all your network connections though, but displays a red warning that it'll do so).
