Reminds me of that time when some really stupid pirates went to attack a ship, and it turned out to be a military cruiser.

I would have loved to watch that. If only to see the pirates face when he realized his mistake.Reminds me of that time when some really stupid pirates went to attack a ship, and it turned out to be a military cruiser.

To be fair to the pirates, it was a refueling ship not, say, a guided missile cruiser. I suspect a military refueling ship looks an awful lot like a commercial light tanker.

True, no fat guns to tip off ambitious raiders.

More depressingly, they're probably so bad-off in Somalia that a French jail cell is a luxurious in comparison. And thus don't mind being captured, as long as they're not shot.
... sorry, back to the joking around! Whee!! Socks! Because see it's funny when you tag posts "socks" but they're not talking about socks! Hahaha! What a funny joke! Of humor!

There's no risk of being shot. Having a cow launched at them, on the other hand

Odd, I recall another incident in the same time period involving an American ship that was CLEARLY military in nature. Or maybe I'm getting news stories crossed.

It was the USS Nicholas (FFG 47), which looks pretty military to me:

It's a Frigate. If you don't know what arabic numerals look like, and you squint real hard, you might be able to convince yourself it's a really wealthy person's yacht.
