Another awesome ad

  • I love that "pro users don't see ads"kind of thing. Acknowledging that ads are annoying and then offering "I'll stop annoying you if you pay me".

It's more like: You choose how we get paid for our services, either you pay us, or we charge advertisers to display ads to you.

But why would anybody choose the former option if they weren't getting anything from it?  If ads are "experience neutral", then the latter option would always be better because it's less work.

Depends on how annoying the ads are. Some of these types of sites make you watch a 30-second commercial before you make each download or give you a "bandwidth throttled" connection. If you find yourself downloading a lot from the site, then it might make sense for someone to just pay for a monthly subscription. If you're paying a premium fee just to avoid banners and popups, then there are plenty of free alternatives.

    I second that sentiment.

Websense software doing same things for us. So ad-blocker is never required.

The Great Firewall Of China works too, I suppose.

Not everyone browses the sort of sites you do.

That's a dangerously false assumption you have there.  Plenty of folks have been hit by drive-bys coming from advertising frames served up on well-known sites.
Legitimate websites infected with malware outnumber infected adult
sites by a ratio of 99 to one, according to a report from security
    software maker Avast.

Of all the sites found to be hosting spyware, Trojans, keyloggers and the like, Avast found that just one per cent were adult sites.

In the UK, for example, the free anti-virus software maker found more infected domains containing the word “London” than including the word “sex”, and said it was clear that the number of infected adult sites was also declining.

This undermines arguments that avoiding adults sites drastically reduced the chances of malware infection.
QED.  Actually, I'm slightly sceptical the ratio is that extreme; a 2009 survey from Norton found ...

    @http://safeweb.norton.com/dirtysites said:

48% of the Top 100 Dirtiest Web sites feature adult content

..., from which I infer that 52% of their Top 100 Dirtiest Web sites did not.  But either way, you are still totally at risk on perfectly ordinary everyday websites.

How many hints do we have to give for people to drop the subject?

The retarded conversation about image filenames is more entertaining than Yet Another Debate On Web Advertising. We've had like 47 of those. Just scroll back to an old one if you want to read one so badly.

Hints, orders, you can give as many as you like, I'll still pay about as much attention to them.

Or you could just close your browser tab if you don't want to read this one so badly.  At least I was quoting verifiable facts and not just shooting my mouth off about my own opinion.

Given that you posted that complaint about me not taking a hint because I wasn't taking a hint, I think this question was already answered by your previous post before you even asked it.  You don't have to pay any attention to my posts, but I expect you to have at least a rudimentary comprehension of your own.
