Possible sue-age in preparation

  • Not sure if I'd consider this a WTF, but I guess posting here gets more attention:

    http://forums.msgdiscovery.com/index.php?showtopic=6491&st=0&p=37297&hl=buzz&fromsearch=1?#entry37297&s=2979cac0ce45897b1f9f3ccc1b5d7cb2

    too linked; didn't click:

Today Google accounced 'Google Buzz'. I didn't exactly read what the hell it is because I saw this:

    Posted Image

    Doesn't that logo look familiar:

    Posted Image

I think I should sue them for MILLIONS!!!

    mod: fixd ur link  -dh
mod: unfixd ur link again. sigh.  -dh

  • Why does my anti-virus get so upset about that image? It won't even allow it to be shown!

If i try and go to msgdicovery.com it says that the page is attempting to install "ScrInject.B.Gen"

  • I don't think they'd have a case, as the MessengerDiscovery logo is just a ripoff of the Windows flag.

Sounds like he was joking anyhow.

This definitely didn't happen to me. I'm on Linux and shamefully un-anti-virused.

If this is an hoax or an attempt at spreading viruses, I apologize. This is just something I got sent and I thought I'd share.

Did you really go to msgdicovery.com or msgdiscovery.com? Which time did you make the typo?

( Thanks dhromed for fixing whatever was wrong in my post, btw. )

As for the logo being a ripoff of the Windows flag, that's probably why I had a funny feeling of recollection when I first saw Buzz's logo.

Typo in post, not in visiting site (or attempting to)

will post more info in a minute

  • While browsing http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/msgdiscovery.com/summary/ , I find quotes as such:

    Yes, this site is ok!
But just like 'statius' said just DON'T CLICK ON ANY ADDS!

I got a browser exploit warning when I ran this program. Be careful everyone.

I have this add on, and I have to admit it is really useful. However, their website advertises malware. The Messenger Discovery Live Today application runs every time you run the messenger (unless the option is deactivated in the settings), and it always launches a pop up, and I once got an exploit through one of their pop ups. The top part of the application also displays an add, and I once got the dialog box for WinFixer, but fortunately IE prevented the download. This website should be marked with a yellow, and people should use it carefully.

So basically, my advice is: don't go there, it's not worth it.

EDIT: maybe the mods would link to "unfix" the link back again. Heh.

  • When viewing this page I get:

When I try and go to msgdiscovery.com I get:

When I try and view the Google cache of the page I get:

  •  Not that much of a surprise, they did the same with the Chrome "OS" logo.  Wish I could find the comparison image.  I think it's a sure sign that your company's going downhill when you have to copy Microsoft's branding on everything.

    Such has transpired.
