BBC invents new imperial units

  • The BBC have their fair share of typos, but it's quite special to convert from metric to metric and get an answer in imperial...

So now 5 metres (or is that 5 miles - damn units) is 16.4 km. Hint; 10 miles ~= 16 km, 5 metres = 16.4 feet. Hooray for unified standard units.

  •  Obviously it was written by a german guest journalist who typo'd km for KM (the traditional abbreviation for the now obsolete unit of "Käse-Mauken" [smelly feet]).

  • The BBC has heard you

Royal Parks said the tax was effectively a rental charge for the use of land near the park, which in Mr Phipps' case is a five-metre (16.4-foot) wide strip of land next to the perimeter wall.

That is TRWTF. The British still have laws forcing the common folk to compensate the royalty, AND the deer traders are about 240 years too late to the Boston Tea Party. We could have had some of the British Isles as US territory if they spoke up back then.
