(3:38:38 PM) John:does it come on the kindle?

  • btk is not amused

  • John is clearly retarded, poor soul.  William might be, too, I just don't care enough to read more than half of this crap.

TRWTF is "free Internet".  Either John is so retarded he doesn't realize the Kindle is locked-down to Amazon's service only or Amazon is so retarded they don't lock down access to their service only.

  • I'm not 100% familiar with the kindle, but isn't the screen some e-paper type stuff that has a refresh rate of a second or something. I mean sure, getting linux to run on <random hardware device> is always cool to see, but besides that, it sounds less then useless.

Besides, kindle 2 costs USD 299, put in a extra 100 and just buy a decent netbook. And unless you live in some backwater country mobile internet is cheap as hell, so just get an unlimited data subscription for a few bucks a month and your done.

I wish an unlimited data connection in the US was a few bucks a month.  I pay $60 for 5GB /month, which is pretty standard.

Maybe he only likes black and white porn. Those aren't very common, the b/w screen will help.

I pay that for cable with unlimited transfer @ 8Mbps in Dallas.

I'd die before I'd accept metered Internet access... I'd chew through that 5GB in under a day.

It's about the same for me too (florida).

Wireless and wired broadband access are completely different: uses, target market and costs. I've been looking at getting a 3G dongle for Internet access while out and about (looking at a $AU30 per 2GB prepaid plan), but I won't be getting rid of my ADSL2+ at home (where I do tend to use about 100GB/month). The wireless data networks have less bandwidth in them compaired to wired networks as they have to share a 5 or 10 MHz chunk of spectrum between everyone in a cell.

This is mobile wireless we're talking about (EV-DO, to be precise).  In addition to that, I pay $70 /month for unmetered 20/3 cable for my home connection.

  • You should go to Japan, there is a lot of comics published black and white there. Some does involve sexual activities.

  •  It got pretty funny at the end. Hard to believe two people actually had this conversation. It was meant to be read and enjoyed.
