Car WTF

  • I took this photo a while back, but it really does deserve WTF status.

    I present:

    Redneck Ford

Can you point out all the WTF's not including the entire car itself?

  •  Ha, only steers and queers huh?  Well, I think you have found a guy who is both!!!

  • Oh, oh, I know what it is... the fire extinguisher case is empty, right?

  • Sweet ride!

  • The only thing better than the DIY camo paint is the pair of shop lights bolted on top of the hood.

  •  I know, it must be the gas prices! They are an error right? right? I mean, last time we saw $0.75 for a litre (+- 1.25 guilder if you take the current exchange rates) over here (the Netherlands) was in ,like, 19-sixtysomething.

I mean, it can't possibly be that we're paying almost 3 times as much just because the government and oil companies are screwing us, right? right? (66% - €0.89 - of our price is taxes)

There's a tin of travel sweets in the glove compartment that the label says are lemon flavoured but they're actually orange?

Is that what it is?  I thought it was just an effect of the filthy window he's shooting through.  Stellar framing right there.

    Awesome car though.

  •  The Real WTF is that they're selling Cokes at 2/$5.99... that's way too expensive.

    It's camo paint.

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

That's not a Ford Taurus - that's a Ford Escort. If it were a Taurus, we could go ahead and think it's supposed to be a joke by someone who owns a totally shitty car and damn well knows it. But it's an Escort, which nullifies the joke and thus we must assume that this was done intentionally... To try to look good.

I suspect there's some camo spraypaint on the radiator itself, too. Bet they didn't take off the front end and just haphazardly sprayed right down the intake.

Also, I think it's pulled up to the gas pump the wrong way for the fuel door.  Can't remember which year Ford switched for sure, though.

    Actually it's both.

    Actually it's both

Actually, those gas prices are higher than what is currently the going rate in the US.  The OP said he took the pic awhile ago which would have been when gas was still well over $2/gallon.

    Presumably that is for 12-packs.

  •  When you can't afford a truck...

So let me get this straight.  Someone digs a REALLLLY deep fucking hole in the ground.  Then someone pumps the oil out of the ground and pipes it to ships.  Those ships sail across the ocean and deliver them to a refinery.  The refinery takes the oil and turns it into gasoline.  Then they put the gasoline in trucks and drive it to a gas station.  Then a gas station attendant has to work the register while you pump gas and put it on your credit card (which takes 2-3% off the top).  For all that work you are only charged 1/3 of the total price that you pay, and you think the oil company is ripping you off?

  •  Sweet - Boss Hogg lives on. He just isn't doing so well these days, obviously.

    You pump your own gas?

    Savages...

No. We pull the buckets out of the gas well.

    Disabled sign for petrol!?

It's interesting that car companies keep different names in different markets. When I think of an Escort, I think of a car that stopped production in the early 80s. But then I understand the USA had the Ford Falcon in the 60s whereas in Australia they are still in production (my Falcon EL was made in 1998).

FWIW: at the moment petrol is around $AU1/litre here, I think I actually paid 99.9c/L yesterday. I was suprised to see petrol over £1/litre in the UK on a recent episode of Top Gear considering that the exchange rate is approximately $AU2.10= £1. (According to Google: 1 (Australian dollar / litre) = 2.56688773 U.S. dollars / US gallon)
