Yet another forum WTF
-
Okay, so we all know already that Community Server is the real WTF. Still, the e-mail I got after recently requesting a new password just stunned me with its ineptitude.
vyznev,You requested that your password for TDWTF Forums be sent to you viaemail. For security reasons, we have created a new random passwordfor you to use to log back into the forums.Your username and password are: Username: vyznev Password: i/Lehg}f$#@@dgYou can login here: http://forums.thedailywtf.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=After logging in you can change your password here: http://forums.thedailywtf.com/user/ChangePassword.aspxIf you did not request this password change, please reply ASAP toinform an administrator. Thanks,TDWTF Forums team
The hyperlinks aren't actually in the original (which was sent as text/plain), they're generated by Thunderbird. The lack of spaces, or any other delimeters, after the URLs (as well as the password itself), however, is a feature of the original e-mail. It was sent in base64, too, so there's no way to blame it on some misbehaving mail server on the way.
(Oh, and no, the password won't work.)

I thought it was fairly well known CS will send out garbled emails. At least it generates strong passwords.

How did you end up recovering your password?

I wonder if CS 2008.5 fixes any of the bugs. Upgrading could be fun, hmm Alex?
-
yeah. that is one garbled unworkable password.

If by "fun" you mean "likely to coaster IIS"
