Taking security seriously

  • The IT dept of my fortune 100 company is always thinking of ways to screw us over ^b^b^b^b^b^b  I mean increase information security.  To that end, their most recent campaign is to wipe out illicit ftp downloads from the inter-tubez.  So we're only allowed to ftp stuff from an approved list of sites.

Today as I was filling out the form to get a couple of our known download sites approved, I happened to notice a link on the IT dept's security website:  Haikus.   That's right!  Information security is so darned important that we have to get the word out any way possible.  So to be a Good Citizen, I informed my manager that I was going to spend the rest of the week composing IT security Haikus.

But then I thought of the best one of all and decided I didn't need to spend the rest of the week after all.  (He was relieved.)  Here it is:

    You scum of the earth

    Unless you get prior approval

    No more ftp for you

    FTFY

    (It's 5 syllables, 7, 5.)

    Otherwise, very nice.
