I'm not even going to try to post an image (this forum sucks) so here is a link to it:
In other news, don't delete half of /home and hope that everything's going to be alright.

I guess there's something to be said for incorporating the readme into the error messages, to keep documentation costs down... I wonder how many glazed eyes it's been responsible for.

I wonder what the code behind that error must look like - or does it pull it out of some resource file?

Maybe this is bending the stick the other way a bit, but I find this
less irritating than "Error -4136". At least he/she/they tried to make
the message useful.

I went for the more selfish approach, dropping the ho and ending up with just me.

Remember, the goal of GNOME is to provide a user-friendly desktop.
That's why they have simplified error messages. OTOH, KDE wants to
provide a powerfull desktop. The error message (if any) is probably ten
pages long ;)

It ain't school, cuz he's home-schooled.

So this is a simple error message? I wonder what a complex one looks like...
At least the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines admit that many of their own applications don't follow them (yet).

At least they have a HIG.
