WTF spotted on the road: "on the eighth day ..."

  • So today on the way to work I end up behind an SUV with an intriguing license plate frame.

    "ON THE EIGHTH DAY

    THE GODDESS CREATED WELSH TERRIERS"

Now, I know that it was probably made-to-order by the car's owner, but it's rare to see the confluence of neo-paganism and fanatacism for a particular breed of terrier manifest itself in one tacky plastic object!  I just imagine them being lined up on a rack of other tasteless frames in a tourist trap somewhere.

  •  I'll see your license plate cover, and raise you a t-shirt for dogs:

  •  Actually, on the eighth day god said "See! I told you that we'd have to put in some overtime on this one. This insane seven day schedule was clearly NOT the work of an Intelligent Designer."

  • @RayS said:

Yeah, but obviously God's boss just said "Ship it anyway and we'll just release a patch later."

    Still waiting for Humanity 1.0.1...

  • I see ones like this here

My Welsh Terrier is smarter than your Honor Student

    and

    I own a dog. And I vote.

On the top of mine it says Oakland ... and at the bottom Athletics I'm so damned boring but the cops never bother me. Even in Kentucky.

That dog has a "please help me, my human's an idiot" look on his face.  Someone, please call the Humane Society.

Is the dog or the shirt made in the USA?

It's actually possible to drive from San Francisco to Kentucky ...  why someone would want to I'm not sure. But I did. I'm not sure why. It was there. I wasn't. Then I was. Now I'm not.

Yes, but it shouldn't be.  This is all outlined in my latest book, Nuke Everywhere That Sucks

Kentucky doesn't suck. Maybe you do. Different people like different places. Good thing because we can't all fit into San Francisco or any other big city. I lived in various places in the southeast, and rather live here than out in CA. (Or Virginia)

I was born in the rural midwest near Kentucky and moved to the greater Boston area later in life.  Kentucky and the rest of the midwest are pretty sweet.  It's good to have a change, though, I get bored easily.  There are some retarded hicks in KY, but there are plenty in Boston, NYC and SF.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why so many people in this city go on about how much the LOVE Columbia.  It's the most boring, soulless, commercial place I've ever been.  Yet, somehow, there are all of these people who are born-and-raised here that would never dream of leaving because Columbia has everything they could possibly want.  I guess the set of things they want is just a tiny subset of the things interesting people who have ever been outside of the city might want.

Well, when people's life ambitions include anything to with the mall, these are the kinds of shallow, mindless souls you end up with.

The best description I have ever heard of Columbia: "By robots, for robots."

The second best: "Columbia, Maryland (artist's conception)"

Awesome! Now I'm getting the visual of an invasion of NS-5's running the place.

Is there actually anything in Columbia other than the mall? Still, it sure beats Colesville, MD, which is an utterly worthless place to be, unless you have the odd desire to see a Ukranian Orthodox church next to a mosque.

  • MY CUZZIN TED AND MY SISTER TED AND HIS BROTHER TED ALL LOADED UP THIS HERE PICKUP TRUCK OF OURS AND WE HEDED ON DOWN TO THE MALL FOR SOME GRITTLE. WOOOWEEE BOY DID THOSE GIRLS AT THE MALL SHOW SOME OF THEIR ASSETS.  MY CUZZIN TED TRIED TO HITCH HIMSELF TO THIS GERL WHO CALLED HERSELF LERLEEN. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT LERLEEN TOLD TED?? WHY SHE PLUM THREW HIM UP ON HIS BRITCHES UP SIDE AND SHOWED HIM HER GOODIES.

THANKS TO MY SISTERS FRIEND TED I GOTS ME A NEW COMPUTER CALLED A GATEWAY SINCE I GOTS TA MILK THE COWS I LIKED THE COWS ON THE COMPUTER.  THE MISSUS CAN LET ME SIT ON THE PORCH WITH THE MONKEYS NOW.

Basically if it's a chain, they have it.  There is nothing unique, local, historic, or truly new.  There are a handful of local restaurants, but the ones that aren't Chinese are all mediocre at best.  In fact, that sums up everything that originates from Columbia: mediocre.  I haven't been able to find a place to buy guitar strings since I moved here a year ago.

Yes it does.  Right now, I am less than a mile from it, so it is not an uninformed conclusion.

(But it does have a couple good BBQ joints)

    ON THE EIGHTH DAY

As an aside, something that no Abrahamic Monothiest has ever been able to explain to me is why an All-Powerful Omniscient Being needed six whole days for creation, then took a rest!. Surely, a simply snap of the fingers..."Let there be light, and planets, and birds and trees and bacteria and animals and stuff" would be all that's necessary. It seems strange to invent an all powerful being, then impose temporal limits.

Oh - and yes...All Hail Eris. And remember, No Spitting In The Forum.

  • 2 quick things here, both offtopic:

I moved from Los Angeles/Orange County California to Leesville, LA (Motto: we have a wikipedia entry, but we can't look at it because our internets are broken). I actually loved the culture shock. population 3800-4000 or so within 30 miles (if i did my GIS maths right).

And secondly, abbydonkrafts, the picture of the girl is a good lookin lass. If it's you, bravo. if not, shame on you. :-D
