Login log in?
-
Do you write (on buttons and such)
1: Login
2: Log In
1: Username
2: User Name
-
Login / Username.
Saves typing a space and / or shift ( if using UserName / LogIn )
-
What about Signon / Logon? I never know what one to use. If you think about it, none of them really make any sense at all.
I think "Authenticate" makes the most sense. I'll bet the users would just love that, though ...
-
Login \ Username
Agreed that Authenticate would be better, but it would confuse the lusers.
Anyone know what the "historical basis" for Log In / Login is? Is it from the act of signing the log book? (logbook?)
-
"The login" is shorthand for "login information"
"Log In" is the proper verb for logging in.
"User name" seems more like proper english, but I don't mind/care if I see "username".
This is all from how I've seen it used, though. It might be that, in the beginning, it was "log on".
