Optimistic Optimisation

I can't decide if the person posting this job is a troll or just very, very special, but he's looking for a special someone that can make his site faster than 99.95% of the sites on the Internet without changing the underlying software or upgrading the hardware.

I wonder if pay is contingent upon meeting that 4ms performance benchmark.

  • "I'ld happily optimize your website to your wishes, but only if you first tell me that your hardware is an IBM Blue Gene/L"

That part's not impossible. Maximum permissable latency in an ethernet domain is about 50 microseconds. He didn't say anything about doing this over WAN links.

  • It appears someone is domain squatting his domain.

The urood one? I don't think so...

  • Here's the kicker for me:

    "Desired skills: Designing skills"

Maybe a skilled designer would know how to change the colours on the site so that the human eye can perceive them faster?

If not on a local network, his customers can only be 600 km away with minimal latency. (assuming a back and forth trip on optical lines, with instant page rendering)

    It stands for both/either.

PHP is more common. If your lamp is perl, you'd better mention it, I s'pose.

  •  Sounds like an easy job. Give me a moment to get the magic pixies...

  •  I wish someone would go ahead and take the job, I bet this would be a never ending cascade of WTFery.

    Here's the kicker for me:

    Location:   Kuwiat, Kuwait

I know, we all make typos, but job offers are the sort of thing you really should bother to spell-check.

I'll agree with Lingerance, it sure looks like a domain-squatting page until/unless you look a bit closer.  Which, of course, is totally par for the course here.
