Personalised emails

  • I love these personalised emails :

    Sehr geehrte/r Frau/Herr {$customer.FIRST_NAME} {$customer.LAST_NAME}!
    ...

  • Well, you shouldn't have told them your name was {$customer.FIRST_NAME} {$customer.LAST_NAME} in the first place. And now that you've posted your full name here, it won't be long before some guy posts a Google Map with your precise directions on it. You really ought to take better care of your privacy!

How do you interpret his/her gender ? Being a Frau/Herr must be weird...

  • It's tempting to say that he/she registered his/her gender as "Frau/Herr". Unfortunately the "geehrte/r" is a sort of giveaway (if you know your German inflections), unless the company let him/her register the preferred way of addressing as well...
