I have been reading this site for a few years now. In that time the reason behind all of the "WTF" garbage has eluded me. Until now.
At first it didn't make sense. After all, how is it possible for so many people to run into the horrible eye gouging code that we see on a daily basis? How is it possible for the same types of insanity to be perpetrated time and again all over the world? Today I had that clarifying moment in which it became clear.
It all started with SpectateSwamp ( http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/thread/141396.aspx ). This must be just one example of his incarnation. I am sure that with a little research it will be shown that he is either the originator, or at least a co-conspirator, of all that is wrong in IT.
However, that was only the beginning. The real crime came when from those fateful words "Plz email me teh codez" came from the Sun ( http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/139496/ShowThread.aspx ). At which point devoted coffee drinkers around the world where subjected to years of darkness caused by the spewing of the functionless SSDS.
Then, as with all Enterprises, the resulting waterfall ( http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/thread/59290.aspx ) cascaded down and took the rest of us. Perhaps after we have all seen the light ( http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/permalink/137337/137434/ShowThread.aspx#137434 ) we will be able to move forward; without it we may simply be stuck in the morass of herd ( http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/permalink/133857/134543/ShowThread.aspx#134543 ) mentality.
