Asus suggests you use your eeeeeee-pc on the beach
-
From the propaganda slide show for the Asus Eee Pc:
So, are they saying that it's safe to take the Eee PC to the beach and plop it down on a blanket right on the ground? I'm not so sure about that. ... Why do computer beauty shots always have the most unrealistic settings?

Upon loading the Eee PC site, I thought it was a generic web-squatter site and was about to close it until I looked closer.

Check out Sun's Project Blackbox for some really great action shots.

Given how wrong are the shadows, compared to the sand, I'm going go to say that the girl, the laptop and the camera were all photoshopped on.

I see nothing wrong with the shadows. You might have been fooled by the heavy use of reflectors, which are typically used in outdoor pro photo shoots.

Unrealistic settings? You mean like Intel's early Centrino adverts with laptop-users up the top of mountains, deep in jungles, 2 miles below the surface of the pacific, or on the moon, surfing the net with the magic of Centrino (aka wifi)? It's the internet - ANYWHERE!
<font size="-1">(small print - the advertised scenario is actually impossible and insane, but hey you're consumers. You'll believe it all, and fail to read this here small print. The product you buy will actually only work within 6 ft of an Intel(c)(r)(TM) branded wireless router)</font>

That's already part of my giant "favourite xkcd" list

So, If I take this thing to the beach, will I be able to send a fax from it?
