Weber B fracture of lower tibular

  • I've got one ( which is healing very nicely, thank you for asking). The consultant says I have to wear the plaster for another 3 weeks, followed by 6 weeks of rehabilitation. Does anybody know what this rehabilitation consists of?

PS Let's hear it for socialised medicine.

My completely uninformed guess is that it means "don't lift anything heavy"

Six months of an instructor walking you through objects placed in a gym, saying "don't pick this up." "don't pick this up either" "you can pick this up"

  • You mean a lower tibia? I should imagine you won't be able to walk on your own until it strengthens itself enough to support your weight again. Rehab usually consists in gradually moving your foot to restore full range of motion, slowly putting weight on it, assisted walking excercises to rebuild atrophied muscle, and teaching you how to walk on crutches up stairs (it's scarier than it looks).
