So there's a whole Microsoft certification exam on Server ${CURRENT_VERSION} Networking. Which is loaded with gems such as:

IdiotsAdmins and replace the routers with real network routing equipment.

-
@izzion Yeah, at least use a real networking OS made by MS

What's so bad about using a general purpose OS as a router?
Do "Network OS"s have some unique characteristic that Linux or Windows can't do with the right configuration?
-
@anonymous234 Yes, the holier than thou attitude doesn't come pre-installed on those systems and any installed package just doesn't feel the same.

With the caveat that I haven't specifically tried to use RRAS as just a router...- The RRAS management experience is pretty painful, even with the GUI tools (which require either Desktop Experience and a whole bunch of bloat or a second Windows box for remote administration)
- A Windows server as a router is going to use a lot more power and rack space than a purpose built router
- Windows Firewall is also a pretty dreadful management experience and doesn't (to my knowledge) expose forward chains at all, so now you need some other device to protect your network anyway
- You can't shoot space aliens with a router
- Nobody got fired for buying Cisco (why would you use Windows as a router instead of an industry standard platform that will be much easier to get support for & train your replacement on)

You can't shoot space aliens with a router
That's enough to not use it

You can if you load it into a suitable mass driver.

Not with that attitude.
