The New Spot – 00:25
— Boston DynamicsCould it be? After decades of research, robotics has managed to produce something that can actually move around at a decent speed and even grab things?
I kinda want one. Though I'm not sure what I'd do with it. And I suspect the price right now is a bit out of my reach.
Can you imagine what the world will be like when anyone can buy something like that for $400 on Amazon and drive it from their couch though?

You could just buy a $95 minifridge for your beers.

could the minifridge chase the neighbors out of the house when i've had enough of their prattle and dinner has been over for three hours and i want to go to bed?
no? then i'll stick with robofido.
-
@accalia You could mount the minifridge on the robot and have the best of both worlds.
-

Just buy a Nickelback CD. Ain't nobody gonna stick around with that playing.
Geez, you guys have issues solving basic problems.

not only that but it might even break the neighbor's legs when it knocked them over thanks to the extra weight! BONUS!

Tell me about it. I completely forgot how to get the nearest normalized scaled midpoint of two angles. Simple math, but I literally haven't had to do that in a decade...

if i did that I'd have to listen to nickelback.

Didn’t you have a great set of headphones that you might be able to use to drown out the Nickelback song?

Nickelback only has one song. They just copy it over and over again on multiple CDs, for some reason.
-
It's definitely cute, but $400 will get you a VR headset with motion controllers, and you can just program a holographic robodog.
-
@anonymous234 it probably smells less than a normal dog!

@anonymous234 it probably smells less than a normal dog!
Given that it's a robot, I dont think it has the ability to smell anything, period

But then you need your guest to put the headset on so the hologram can chase them. Now you have to chase after your headset...

Did you just "yes and" yourself?
-
, I dont think it has the ability to smell anything, period
Some dogs can apparently smell if a woman is on her period
-
@jaloopa Women generally accept better when it's dogs getting their noses that close, too.

Just like Coldplay.

But can you kick your mini-fridge and laugh as you watch it trying to recover, while secretly hoping AI-s won't be able to remember this slight when they inevitably take over the civilization?

You can just play with the one in Valve's The Lab. It's pretty cute.

Dammit, now you've got me trying to remember which episode this is from.
you're welcome!
-
@accalia Someone downvoted you for impersonating Maui? Rude!

not only that but it might even break the neighbor's legs when it knocked them over thanks to the extra weight! BONUS!
Wouldn't that make it harder for them to get out, though?

true, but it would make then significantly less likely to return.
-
@accalia That is a very good point.
-
@erufael SpotMini can drag them out with its robotic arm.
