Huh. At least stuff like Programming Languages ABC++ was targeted to toddlers, this is just plain weird.
Then again, back in 2013 their big boss (no idea if it's still the same) apparently thought that their NO SOFTWARE badge was the best way to show how cool and different they were...

I can't be upset about cute animals, but Einstein? Adopting a real person as your mascot?

@jbert What a lovely article.
Although research and logic were behind some of their concerns, I felt that their arguments were overruled by the most important rule in marketing—the necessity to differentiate your brand.
I put the logo on all our communications materials and policed it to make sure no one removed it. (They did so anyway.) I wore a NO SOFTWARE button every day and asked our employees to as well. (They did so, somewhat reluctantly.)

It's relatively hard for Einstein to protest, what with him being dead since 1955...

So many companies have gone down the drain by following that rule.

Call me when they publish a coloring book.
-
@blek Adult coloring books are a trend, at least in the last 3 years or so. I seriously would not be surprised if they did that.
-
@blek Might be useful if you need to teach a PM or BA about this stuff?
-
Typical Linux coloring book judging from that onebox ...
you have to draw the pictures yourself

@jbert I wonder what he would think of how, in modern times, his name is utterly synonymous with "intelligence" or "genius", to a level no other scientist has ever attained.
-
@pie_flavor Just like your name is utterly synonymous with "dumbshit moron"!
-
@blakeyrat I think you're confusing @pie_flavor with me.
-
@scholrlea No, your name is synonymous with "strange person who posts NSFW cartoons".
-
@jaloopa Yeah aren't you (@scholrlea) the who went into a thread literally named "safe for work guilty pleasures" and filled it up with NOT safe for work porno short stories about werewolves or some shit until I had to block it? I'm pretty sure that was you.
-
@blakeyrat Well, yes. But then, I was the one who created that thread in the first place, so... well, I guess I lied.
(Actually, I forgot that I'd put the SFW part in the thread title, as I'd meant that part as a joke about the Internet in general. Sorry about that.)

And LISP.
-
@boomzilla Oh god that's him too?
What an asshole.
-
@blakeyrat Maybe, but I like his LISP and History of Computing posts.

That seems a bit unnecessarily rude.
-
@anonymous234 But entertaining. Which is normal.

@blakeyrat's name is utterly synonymous with 'unnecessarily rude'.
